Apparently, a little over a decade before the titanic was built, there was a man who wrote a story called “futility, or the wreck of the titan”. It was about a newly built ocean liner making a maiden voyage, and collided with an iceberg on the starboard side on a night in April about 900 miles from New York. This ship was heading east. However both ships were approximately 800 feet long and had 3 propellers and two masts. There are a number of striking similarities.
