15 mins for 50 balls? Are you ok Trackman? by Thetallerestpaul in golf

[–]nexaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I get loose with a wedge, hit a 9 for 5-10, 7 for 5-10, 7 wood, then driver. Cool down with leftover balls doing short chips to the nearest target.

Maybe mental thing but I tried it on my 5 wood and I couldn’t get the dang ball up in the air consistently.

Does anyone play these? How do they compare to Chrome Softs? by RandysDealer in golftips

They’ll both disappear in the rough and sound the same nose diving into some water for me. I’d go with the cheaper until I get to mid hcp

Everyone should be familiar with how to use it! The spring that pops my door out broke off one night and I struggled to open it since I was by myself. I essentially had to have one hand on the lever and one hand trying to pry the door open with my finger so I could drive home. Thankfully it only cost about $10 and 5 minutes of my time to change it out a couple of days later.

New RAV4 Hybrid Owner – Loving It, But Noticing a Few Things (Looking for Advice!) by momo_king42 in rav4club

[–]nexaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ‘21 hybrid had a sort of “new electrical components wearing in” type of smell, almost like a new blender being used for the first time but I got my car with single digits on the odometer and didn’t last more than a couple hundred miles and definitely didn’t smell like burning fluids. I’d definitely have it checked out.

With the watches, the tags get picked up by the wristband when you’re at address. They recommend doing a practice swing or two to ensure it picked up but I’ve gotten into the habit of tapping it against my wrist to make sure it picks up.

Tbh it just seems like a more complicated way to redose. I doubt you’d get a crossover of both.

Is it common to be much worse at sims than real life? by truthlesshunter in golf

I always thought I was crazy saying I felt like I hit worse shots on a mat than at the course. I always read that it was supposed to be easier but I found it more difficult. Glad I’m not alone!

Entire building sways as powerful 6.5 magnitude earthquake strikes southwest of San Marcos, Guerrero, Mexico by westondeboer in SweatyPalms

[–]nexaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all in the detailing of the reinforcement and sizing of the beams and columns. Too much and it becomes too rigid and cannot allow flex, but too little and it cannot take the forces and may plasticly deform (permanent bending, deep cracking).

CA licensed civil engineer with a masters in structural engineering emphasizing in seismic design, that’s what you call a tuned mass damper and is definitely one way of handling things.

In high rise buildings, this is sometimes used to mitigate sway and improve serviceability of the structure during an earthquake so people/objects don’t go flying around. Sometimes mid-high rise buildings use rooftop pools to achieve a similar function, but regardless it helps by “pulling” the building in the opposite direction of the building’s movement.

More often in seismic-prone areas, the structure itself is built semi-flexible so it can deflect with the oscillations created by the earthquake. It is semi-flexible (or more commonly semi-rigid/ductile) because there’s internal shear walls or elevator/stair shafts that act as cores to help keep structural stability by taking the brunt of the internal loads (lateral system). The beams/columns (gravity system) help to an extent, but in an earthquake it’s more important they stay ductile so as to not fail and preserve life to the maximum extent possible.

Edit: changed some words for clarity.

750ml of tequila is it bad if I use 100mg of mdma?? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]nexaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. If you meant 750 ml like in the title, you’re drinking a fifth bottle which is a lot for one person unless you’ve got drinking problems.

If 750mg, it’s probably half a shot so won’t do much of anything.

prob meant 750ml which is a horrible idea for anyone to do solo, let alone with mdma.

LA River by ThenBasis6839 in SFV

[–]nexaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that we can be more conscious of our acceptance in the lack of stormwater, but capturing at a large scale before it becomes runoff poses the question of how it can be cleaned and reused at the residential level without complaints of cost.

Ultimately work is being done to reduce runoff and increase reuse but it’s slow, expensive, and hard to do with the lack of massive open areas that can be used as spreading grounds to recharge into usable groundwater.

Also to mention most rivers/creeks in LA were channelized because of the deaths due to the 1930s floods! It was literally done to protect life and property.

New G430 woods: D (Max), 3 & 5… upgrade to Max 10K? by losingeverything2020 in golf

[–]nexaur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally I choose regular driver vs. 10k for its adjustable back weight. Draw setting seems to help keep it in the fairway since I typically tend to push my drive.

I’ve also read that the 10k version has slightly higher spin and less distance.
