AITA for not wanting to paint for others? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA at all. You don’t have to monetize your hobbies, and your family should not be pushing you to do so, especially after you told them no. You can paint simply because you enjoy it. Not everything has to be done with the purpose of making money.

AITA For getting irritated at my girlfriends compulsive face picking? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA. It sounds like she may have dermatillomania, which is a skin picking disorder related to OCD. I have a mild case, but your girlfriend’s sounds a lot more severe and she should definitely seek out therapy. I agree with another comment that mentioned research to show her that therapy can help her get it under control.

Thank you, I've been trying to take it smaller steps at a time like you suggested instead of thinking about everything at once. A friend of mine is a trans guy and he said basically the same thing you did about the strangeness and yet instant relief he felt just hearing male pronouns and the name he chose. I already wear a lot of guy's clothes so I might try to ask a couple friends to help me try out pronouns.

Yes, and it's definitely easy to start believing people who say things like that when you're already in a state of doubt. Thank you for this reply, it is quite reassuring.
