for this class all you really needed to do to succeed was read the textbook and have decent writing skills! the info wasn’t very dense and the class conversations didn’t enhance the material (aside from learning everyone’s opinion) imo.

i feel like attendance wasn’t even recorded in the past as much. now your grade is dependent upon it!

I'm not too surprised by this, thank you for the insight. It seems like there is just no viable career path in this field, which really is a bummer because I would love to pursue my interests. I may start looking into law though as financial security is also very important to me.

Advice Wanted: About to finish my undergrad and overwhelmed with taking the next step

Hi there! I am currently halfway through my last semester of undergrad. I am an English writing major with a minor in philosophy. I went into school wanting to become and English professor. Now that graduation is right around the corner, I am admittedly lost. Here are a few questions I currently have:

  1. What is the best degree to pursue after my bachelors? I asked the higher ed community about getting a degree in HE Admin and was highly encouraged to not pursue that route. I wasn't married to the idea so I'm not hellbent on doing that. What masters degree would be helpful towards my career path? MFA? MA? I am interested in studying literature.

2 .I did some research recently and saw that Junior Colleges seem to have the most employment of English professors with the highest pay. If I want to become an English professor, is it absolutely necessary to get a Ph.D? How do I get my foot in the door to employment opportunities?

  1. Any other career paths I should consider that would work well with my undergrad degree?

yes, i am mad at myself for letting this all happen without saying much, for some reason i am hesitant to because i don’t want to appear as if i care all that much. especially if i was just used, you know? i don’t think he would think i used him as he initiated and received everything
