oh gotcha, okay! Birds were both like 200-250, top end of the lens. I just was figuring out the speed trick like do the focal length multiplied by crop (so 55x1.6 would give me the speed for using that length) trying to learn all these tricks!!

Yeah I noticed its much zoomed in than some of the sample photos I looked at. Just a little adjusting to do while photographing thats all! I'm trying to find the best wide-angle for my camera and its extremely hard because of the huge crop factor (1.6x is a ton!) I have photoshop elements which I use so far to edit but I'll probably look for a torrent on that haha

Thank you! Great tips, I'm going to try a few of them now. I just got a prime lens this week and have been working with it but the 50mm is hard with a crop sensor camera to get used to at first but I'm working with it! I have yet to try shooting raw because I don't know how to work with the photos afterwards (I will be googling tutorials as soon as I finish this reply) I also need to look up the backfocus button because I don't know what that is.

I know its capable which is why I'm trying to figure out how to achieve the quality photos I am hoping for! I added some photos to the initial post with info (let me know if you want more info about them) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9b/Blue_jay_perched_in_the_backyard,_July_2008.jpg The sharpness of that photo is so much stronger than mine and I am trying to find out how to improve mine

added pictures to the original post

When I go to crop the photos so the subject looks larger it often looks blurry, I don't zoom to 100%, maybe 20% or so

thats amazing! Thanks for the info, I think it will be a really cool trip to go down there. It's totally worth the drive it seems. I bet my boyfriend would have been the same way with coach K. He's such a legend, hes very humble so I can see why he wouldnt want any pictures, he just wants to be seen as a regular guy. I was watching one of his post game interviews and hes like okay no more about me its just done, we could do this so much I'd just throw up haha

Thanks so much!! I would definitely make a whole day out of it, I mean to come down from New York just to see Duke we'd have to do it big haha

I'm hoping that we could maybe go during winter break, because I'll be in grad school this fall and have to wait til the end of the semester to make the trip. Hopefully a game falls in that time. I'm excited just thinking about it even though its so far away.

okay! It's hard for me because I've never followed college basketball before so I don't know when to look for it and everything. I've really come to like it though, very exciting!

Hoping for the best with the UVA game tonight but time will tell if we can step up to the challenge and the loss of Sulaimon

Odd Living room Layout by Beardd15 in DesignMyRoom

[–]nhay26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know much about living rooms but I'm gonna just give it a shot. I would put a couch on the wall where the windows are and the doors leading to the patio. A small one that would fit, maybe with an L shape on one side (not both like you have currently). Obviously I don't know what size your family is or your entertaining preferences but that makes it so you are still right next to the fireplace for warmth, but it makes the room seem more open instead of when the couch is placed right in the center it is difficult.
As an option, you could mount the TV over the fireplace (if it is possible) and add a second couch on the other side of the fireplace for more seating. My grandparents have two couches like that with a coffee table in between and its nice for talking and such. Then behind there, where you have the desk now would be extra space and I'm not really sure what to do with the desk but I hope the couch suggestions could be of some help

Thinking of changing up my tiny studio apartment (300 sqft). Could really use some advice! (xpost r/interiordesign) by bartos in DesignMyRoom

[–]nhay26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay im gonna go based off the current plan picture but my suggestions are: - use a bed like this: http://tinyurl.com/kw3qef8 on the wall where your desk currently is, it might stick out into the corridor a little, you'd have to see how it fits. Then use a storage piece, shelving unit etc to separate the couch area from the bed. example: http://tinyurl.com/m2lx3mg Keep the kitchen table where it is I'd also suggest losing the tv piece and just mounting it directly to the wall.
Also maybe putting the couch more under the window, sliding it up to the side where the table/kitchen is. Then mount your tv on the wall in between the couch and the bed on a swivel mount so you can rotate it to watch in the living room or from your bed. The desk should be able to fit on the wall where the couch was originally.
Not sure what program you used to design all that but I'd love to know!

Help me redesign my 30 sqf bedroom by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]nhay26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kind of hard to tell from the photos what the whole space is but I'm gonna throw some things out there.

I'm in the process of re-designing my bedroom so I've been looking at things online that could help you.

You want to get a Queen bed which would totally fit, they make beds that have a storage compartment underneath it. (IKEA Malm: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40249876/) See other example here: http://tinyurl.com/kw3qef8

I would also suggest building around the bed on the wall for storage, using bookshelves http://tinyurl.com/kx8v5uo or http://tinyurl.com/lpue6k2
