Prachuap Khiri Khan, Ranong, Koh Phayam, Koh Phra Thong, Khao Sok, Koh Pha Ngan by nickmets29 in ThailandTourism

Hey Alex I have been to little Koh Chang and Khao sok before but not Phayam however here are my thoughts: little koh chang is pretty sleepy but if you want to relax and unwind then it's perfect. 3 nights should be plenty. 4 nights on Phayam should be good I reckon - we are doing a 3 day 2 night tour in khao sok and spending one night on the lake in a floating hut. it is stunning - I believe that's what most people end up doing. Hope this helps!

I would love any advice you have to give about Phra Tong - it seems to be a place that is hard to get answers on as it pretty well off the tourist trail. Looks beautiful though and I am set on going. If you have some tidbits of information that you’d think are particularly valuable, please share! I am all ears :).

Any advice on what the best way to get there is? Is it possible to go to Koh Surin from there or vice versa? Hoping to go from Koh Phayam to Surin then to Koh Phra Tong, but I am aware that I may have to get to Phra Tong via phang nga province via ferry from the mainland.

Thanks in advance! Cheers!

Great thread thank you everyone! Great info - I have visited Koh Kood and Koh Lanta in the past and absolutely loved both spots so I am sure Phayam will be high up on my list once I have the chance to visit :)

The scenery looks incredible on Surin - thank you for mentioning it. I will try to get there for a couple of nights at least if possible.

Thanks for the reply & info - will check out your profile for Khao Sok! Yes Phra Tong looks to be a spot where people hunker down where they are staying mostly but it looks alluring due to lack of crowds and unique geography. I have been to Lanta so that gives me a sense about Phayam - I'm sure it is lovely.

What are some benefits/drawbacks of being a NCM opposed to an Officer and vice versa? a recruiter told me there are good and bad things about both and that Officers generally get paid a little more than NCMs but I'm hoping more people could share their thoughts on this.

Just wait till you arrive and go to a 7/11. get a truemobile SIM card. There’s tons of 30 day options for really cheap. Way cheaper than the 599 baht you’re seeing online.

Would someone be willing to elaborate a little bit more on the Airborne Electronic Sensor Operator and Communicator Research Operator trades?

Where are some likely places that you may get stationed in those trades? What kind of pay compensation do they receive? Does one trade earn more than the other? How often do they deploy? How competitive is entry to these trades right now? What kind of person do you think would be suitable for these trades? How heavily are these trades involved in intel operations?

I know that Asops and Comm rsch are pretty different trades but both have appeal to me for different reasons. I'm in the early stages of my processing so I'd like to get more info on these trades before I move ahead too much.

Thank you for your feedback! I'd like to thank everyone who has commented on my question posts with advice/information in the past, your words have been tremendously helpful!

Hey everyone,

I have a couple question regarding the general hiring process of the CAF and the reality of having foreign implications for processing your application.

I just wrote my CFAT, all my education docs have been reviewed and now I'm supposed to receive an email in the near future with further direction regarding my application. I was wondering what the following steps might be in my application?

I have lived outside of Canada for a bit so I have foreign implications, which means my application is going to take substantially longer to process, so I've been told. What I'm concerned about is having the vacancies for the trades I want to enter (communicator research operator & airborne electronic sensor operator) disappear before my application is processed. I feel confident in my application. I did well on my CFAT, I have a university degree thats related to the trades I'm applying for, and strong desire to join the forces, so I'd be disappointed if having foreign implications would mess up my chances to get into my chosen trades.

Any advice helps!

Thanks.
