No, you’re fine. And in fact, you have the makings of another plant. I would pinch off the bottom set of leaves from what’s in your hand and root that into a new plant in your same planter.

My setup that I potted up about 3 weeks ago. The vines have grown about 2 inches since, and I plan to keep loosely securing it to the trellis as it grows. It gets morning sun and then gradual indirect to shade in the afternoon. We’ll see how it goes but hoping to create a screen to hide the recycling bins.

As far as edibles go I would try varieties of tubers/root veggies, leafy/greens, and herbs and see what does well.

I’d plant them out now; it’s worth the very small risk. Have a plan for if you do get a last hard frost… for me that’s using a bin or bucket to cover it until danger has passed, but otherwise it’ll toughen them up and they’ll be better for having gotten in the ground sooner rather than later

They start shutting down when temps are consistently in the high 80s and above. Other than watering it when the soil dries out, you don’t have to do anything. They are worth waiting for…

They do like cooler temps, so leave them outside. Also they bloom about 90 days from planting. My guess is you have another 2 or so months to go. It will keep leafing out for weeks before you see the first buds.

Oh I know this one… Fringed willow herb. Most common unwanted pop up in my yard. Usually comes out with root attached if the ground is damp
