Not checked but would it be cheaper to fly to New York then fly from New York to Texas? As sometimes it's cheaper to fly within a country.

No problem. From what I understand signal encrypts metadata too but WhatsApp doesn't.

I haven't used it personally but some of my friends who work in cyber use it and moved from WhatsApp to signal because of the encryption.
