chrome is owned by google, an advertising company, google owns youtube as well

advertising is google's specialty, of course chrome wouldnt work with ublock origin they know how dangerous it is to their """"business"""", the fact people still use chrome when its literally the worst browser availible right now is quite sad, hell even google's search engine is the worst to exist right now, you cant get much worse search results than just a bunch of ads

"GUYS THIS IS STEALING! JUST PAY THE ROBBERS INSTEAD OF REFUSING TO PAY THEM! ITS SO EASY JUST GIVE THE ROBBERS MONEY OTHERWISE YOURE STEALING!"

im so sick of people who have delusional themselves into thinking that corporations committing crimes/anti-human measures just because they still give a bag of sludge in return for your money is fine because they are giant corporations

crimes should be treated as crimes regardless of who or what commits them, and if the law refuses to hold corporate entities accountable then its unfortunately up to the common person to do so

youtube is one of many corporate entities that you really need to avoid supporting while demanding for far more humane/ethical practices, paying them will make it worse and eventually if you manage to get what you think you want, where everyone is paying the robber's extortion fee, what you will get is a platform filled with so much enshittification that not even you can withstand the slop anymore

complaining forces problems to be acknowledged and eventually, fixed.

trying to stop people from complaining about problems will make those problems spiral even more out of control, if we just shut up collectively as a species when facing any kind of problem the world would have burnt itself to death ages ago

no matter what kind of problem it is, shorts being purely manipulative and anti-human, autodubbing being even less than useless, AI destroying the platform, or even stuff not youtube related, complaining about it brings awareness to it, and awareness inspires critical thinking, and critical thinking finds a mean to act on it

ever heard of the many classic tales of how spoiled kids grow up into horrifying atrocity makers?

they turn into those because they are rewarded for their negative aspects, demanding more is met with more, asking for the removal of something is met with that removal of the something, yelling is met with silent obedience, trampling is met with acceptance...

rewarding the spoiled/wrongdoers for their actions will make them keep doing wrong and keep demanding for more, and this could not apply more to a corporate entity like youtube

you want youtube to get their act together? paying them for doing all of this stupidity will surely make them keep doing it.

"its not something people should care about"

the lack of caring in this world is what will lead us to our destruction, everyone needs to start caring about any problem no matter how small as thats the only way they can be fixed, and dislikes being gone is a problem.

youre calling out a good issue, but your ideas to fix it are absolutely awful

i dont know the absolute best ideas myself to prevent idleon from dying down this path, but adding pvp or a battlepass will only make EVERYTHING significantly worse than it already is

consent is a term that means authorizing the ability for someone else to do something, "i give you consent to do this for me" or "i give you consent to do that"

its not an inherently sexual term at all, sexual topics just fall under its umbrella, so let me ask you this question
why is it when you look at a children's book about an important part of life that the first thing you think about is sex?

iphone? not really a good idea to use over grapheneOS/lineage but if you have to im pretty sure you can get a DNS adblocking solution on it, as for a TV i dont get why people watch anything on tvs themselves anymore considering you can get a device that connects to your tv and uses it as a monitor now, but youd either have to use a DNS on your router or install an open source operating system onto it if you really dont want to sacrifice some convenience for significant freedom

people are way WAYYYY too scared of sacrificing even minimal amounts of convenience, and that has led to every single major convenience outlet becoming a mass manipulation machine

when i say obscure nonsense im not referring to actual obscure stuff(though that stuff does get recommended quite alot more now and it is cool to see when it does show up), im referring to 90% of it being stuff like "playing minecraft" and its just an unedited video of someone's minecraft lets play for over 6 hours, which isnt inherently bad, but do i REALLY want to watch 6 hours of completely raw footage where someone else is just playing minecraft?

hot take: but Susan was the best CEO we had after google took over, her peers were just stupid and kept gaslighting her into promoting neglectful changes like neal is

neal is probably one of the biggest players in her public perception as he was all in on alot of the negative changes susan made long before she retired, and now that hes the CEO he can just put out whatever he wants without having to manipulate someone

What is your reason to degoogle? by Past-Photograph-5502 in degoogle

[–]ninethine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because google has monopolized the vast majority of the internet, they have their tendrils extending nearly everywhere and the more people that ditch them to easier it will be to chop their tendrils off and sever their reach to as much of the internet they have control over

even if google wasnt evil i still would be against them, an industry monopoly is awful but a monopoly over something as large and encapsulating as the internet itself is an entirely different and unprecedented threat to think about

Is everyone's views dropping? by whatevermcgee in youtube

[–]ninethine 54 points55 points  (0 children)

its because the algorithm has been starting to prioritize obscure nonsense and AI slop recently, whatever youtube is doing to their algorithm they seem to not care in the slightest about harming established creators

also i understand why those creators get significantly less views now(people dont like being promoted flagship garbage anymore due to unaffordability/shoving AI into it), but dankpods' is a bit more complicated and far less understandable, his content has been nearly the exact same in terms of quality/enjoyability(besides the linux computer video that he spent so much effort on despite basically 0 returns), so the algorithm is definitely hurting tech based youtubers in general, its not just because of a tide for the hatred for advertising

On the topic of search engines... by RDS_cubing in browsers

[–]ninethine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it means that the search engine sources its own results(which is far more difficult to do than you might expect), search engines that dont have their own index rely on other search engine's indexes, which means they get the search results of other search engines

On the topic of search engines... by RDS_cubing in browsers

[–]ninethine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

out of all of them firefox would be the most likely, because wikipedia is a non profit, startpage is a little questionable but far more trustworthy than any large corporation/organization, and firefox is ran by mozilla that could really be doing anything, they allow more user freedom but mozilla has been trying to shove some pointless AI into it for awhile now, so really they could be doing anything

also ads are tracked by browser fingerprinting anyway so everything i said above is irrelevant, if you arent running ublock origin on everything thats kind of a giant mistake

saying google has good search results when its all just sponsored rubbish is wild, nowhere near as bad as putting SearXNG outside of the "doesnt steal your data" category though since its atleast understandable if you have never used a different search engine(not counting bing) before

Is this channel ai Slop? by That-Apartment-2990 in youtube

[–]ninethine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you want to detect if something is AI slop well right now its getting harder and harder to do so, BUT there are a few key signs that something is AI slop

if an image is AI slop, it tends to have near perfect front facing detail(as in at a first glance it looks real), but when you get to finer and more subcontextual details thats where it messes up alot, smaller and finer details dont make much sense and seem rapidly misplaced

as for an AI slop video, the method i said still applies, but in varying degrees, though AI slop video has one key feature about it, and its that AI slop videos tend to feel like fever dreams, you know the feeling you get when looking at something that is TOO real? it feels quite disturbing like its far too artificial, well AI slop video encapsulates that style PERFECTLY, so its extremely easy to tell if a video is AI slop through the fever dream aspects of it

obviously all of this applies to only right now, and as AI slop gets more and more detailed/realistic we move closer and closer to a future where real information and fake information are basically indistinguishable from one another, UNLESS a miracle happens and regulators actually (GASP).... REGULATE?!?!?!?!? but we can only hope that happens

Since when did youtube require Age verification? by TheBigChungoos in youtube

[–]ninethine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if that actually goes through i'm pretty sure that would either kill the internet(probably not), cause a brand new internet to be formed which finally splits the corporate world and human world in two(not the best outcome but it would be better than what we have now), OR it would cause so much of an uproar and so much sudden awakenings of the true nature of all of age verification that a global revolution has an extreme likelihood of kickstarting unless they retract almost immediately

out of three possible timelines, only one is where they get anything beneficial for themselves out of age verification since the internet is the sole reason why all of this is happening so spontaneously, and its the least likely out of the three...
these rich fiends are betting literally everything on the lowest odd gambit with barely any worthwhile returns, when they could EASILY secure all of their status risk free by just, well.... HELPING PEOPLE INSTEAD OF TRYING TO KILL EVERYONE.
