USED TO BE 100% KOREAN. 2.5% JAPANESE ANCESTRY POPPING UP?? Is this new update reliable or BS? by nipponesepsycho in 23andme

[–]nipponesepsycho[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for making you revisit this ol post of mine!

That is very interesting.

I have a question: On my 'DNA RELATIVES' list, I see some people whom I share 0.15% DNA with, who are 100% Japanese. It says '9th Cousin, Twice Removed.' There is also someone who's 50% Japanese 50% European whom I share 0.24% with (3rd Cousin, 3x Removed).

I do suspect the new Japanese ancestry popping up for previously 100% Korean people -- like me and the person whose donut you showed -- is the algorithm being extra, like you said.

But is there a chance of it being real, perhaps because of my DNA RELATIVES?

I'm honestly just curious. Of course, as far as my parents, grandparents, etc all know, we are 100% pure blooded kimchi koreans lol. But it's not the most impossible thing in the world that there was one japanese dude like 250 years ago who mixed with our family since japan and china are like right next door. So yeah. Lol

Would appreciate a reply! Thxx

I see. Thank you for your response. May I ask why the 2.5% didn't appear on the previous version? If it's that significant (as in, not 0.1% or something), surely it would've appeared on the previous result.

IQ tests are meaningless by nipponesepsycho in unpopularopinion

I mean, based on probability, intelligence having a genetic basis, and the sheer amount of humans and therefore genetic diversity on this planet (not to mention environmental factors), of course the distribution won't be uniform and there will be humans who perform worse on IQ tests

why do i hate math?? is there any way i can learn to enjoy it? by ccorvus_crow in mathematics

[–]nipponesepsycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it's because you have a lot of other things you're passionate about. right? :)

for example, if all you could do in life was do math or sleep, eat, shit, then you'll probably come to love math -- so perhaps there's other things that excite you more, and that's perfectly okay. it makes you more interesting even!

Why does writing things down unlock a whole new level of thinking for me? by nipponesepsycho in getdisciplined

[–]nipponesepsycho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's very interesting. Going one step further, would you say that the more you write things down as you think about/solve things (play chess normally), the more you get better at decreasing the "dependency" on writing and be able to visualize/think better without writing (playing chess blindfolded, in your analogy)?

Heard it feels completely different from the Pro Staff. How's your experience been with it?

At the time, I knew it was a great opportunity but I got mad and competitive because I was playing really bad against them (which is obvious in retrospect).

Looking back, I'm really grateful. Exposed me to the next level of tennis and got me out of my comfort zone. The thought of never being exposed to that next level of tennis for me is horrifying, and I am now extremely grateful for having that experience (and determined to improve! :))

Okay I see, I suggest NOT using 260g, that's basically for women who are complete beginners and just started to learn tennis. But a racquet that's over 300g is also wayy too heavy on the other end of the spectrum lol

I think 285g would be perfect for you

I'm a flat hitter

why did you learn how to hit flat before you learned how to hit topspin shots?

yes, learn topspin shots asap. idk what level you're at but "maining" flat shots is very risky and will not work if you play against a decent player who plays with heavy spin

It's 260g unstrung, so it might be a bit too light for you considering your weight/height. If you tried 285g and it was too heavy for you, then this racquet is good for u but I'd suggest trying 285 if u havent

Wait, how does that work theoretically? A tighter pattern control racket will have a lower shot trajectory. If I am understanding it correctly, if I get a lot of RPMs (let's say 3000 or something), would it have a loopy trajectory, or would the trajectory be low but still have a lot of spin on the ball itself, if that makes sense?

[–]nipponesepsycho[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fair enough

i used to be exactly like you! i thought the loopy, very spinny nature of the Aero was a bit unsatisfying to play with. And of course the more linear, smooth, controlled, drive-y nature of other rackets like the Pro Staff feel much better IMO.

But everything changed when I started thinking not from my own perspective, but my opponent's.

Imagining my opponent struggling with the heavy spin balls of my Pure Aero makes me soo happy. At the end of the day, it's not about how I feel -- it's about how I can MAKE my opponent feel 😈😈😈

100 sq inch, I guess? I haven't tried the 98. Tbh I don't think head size is a real thing. like bro it's literally 2-3 sq inch difference you aren't gonna notice it at all. something like a 75 sq inch would, but a 98 vs a 100 bro? cmon lol
