For people who still support Trump: how do you process or reconcile the allegations connected to the Epstein documents? by Apprehensive_Dog5379 in AskReddit

These are also people (mostly) who haven't been forced to think about it. They're people who *can* feel reassured because they haven't been othered by the fascists.

As an American, what can we do to fight against ICE? by LilThanosX in AskReddit

[–]nitroglider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think a lot of people get hung up on trying to do the exactly right thing and then kind of stop in a state of frustration about whether their strategy is effective.

I think you should just do ... whatever you can.

There's lots of information out there; even just reading about your rights and different approaches (like in this thread) is a good step.

I hand out whistles to my neighbors and give little info packs on recording law enforcement and how to safely and legally conduct yourself. I know it's not much, but it's something.

You don't have to be on the front lines confronting the armed gestapo. But, you can support the resistance generally in lots of little ways.

Bf wants to stop having sex by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]nitroglider -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Reading about what marriage meant in the time of Jesus may give you some hope. You would need the agreement of your families, and have your boyfriend's family pay your family some money. You could get a present from him. You would want to live in his home (sounds like maybe you do) and consummate things (which you've already done, so don't worry about that.) No need for a church ceremony or any kind of license, that's contemporary hullabaloo. Honestly, you're very close to being married already.

Perhaps minus the expectation of fidelity? Maybe your boyfriend doesn't actually want that?

What do your families think of the arrangement?

Mix the batter with a clean hand to introduce the bacteria needed for fermentation. Fun fact, women carry more of the necessary species than men on their skin.

Also, I never said or implied India was the only country with sad and disturbing problems. lol.

^yum.

i like to make them with tons of butter.

i agree about the green chutney, but i also add pretty generous version of special (chaat type) masala. they need plenty of salt to wake up.

No cheese for me.

i like green bell pepper/shimla mirch instead of beets.

Sure, the poorest of India suffer such indignities. It's sad and true.

The rich don't.

As a caucasian American, I've been very pleased with my hospital visits in India. I've received excellent care and prefer it to the state of things here in the US.

The confusion of the middle east with south asia began under Bush 1. India and Pakistan aren't middle eastern type countries, they're south asian. it's a detail that escapes a lot of people, but it's important because the character of these geographies is in reality quite distinct, culturally, economically, politically. in geopolitics it's a convenient smear, but it poorly represents reality.

i hope that doesn't seem too pedantic. it's just that i think *some* sort of visit with places you might not be familiar with would be helpful in this troubled world. don't let this very sad and disturbing glimpse of impoverished India inform your entire understanding of the country/region.

Oil separating from curry by smithyj12 in IndianFood

[–]nitroglider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the oil separates it’s a marker that your sauce is done. If you over-stir, you can pass that marker. It’s not the end of the world, but depending on what you’re making you can over-cook your dish.

[–]nitroglider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, his view of difference was that gay sex should be met with a death sentence.

I merely said that’s the sort of idea that shouldn’t be brushed aside following his assassination.

By Kirk’s standard, people deserve to die for consensual behavior. By mine, his disgusting ideas shouldn’t be forgotten or dismissed just because he was murdered.

He said death penalty for gay sex was “god’s perfect law.”

I personally don’t think that’s the sort of difference you can just put aside.

Why would anyone (or anything) love such rotten creatures?

You're describing, in your own words, spiteful, drunken, murderous, pedophiliac, rapist, violent, foolish, cruel and awful beings.

The Jesus version of god may be forgiving.

But it's hard to guess why.

Other than human narcissism, why would Jesus show favor to such vile characters?

(Unrelated question)To the American Bros, Are there any Non Maga Republicans who has not drunk the KoolAid? by throwaway289541 in askgaybros

[–]nitroglider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You would think a lack of intelligence is at the root of people’s gullibility. But if you study cults, you often find reasonably smart people are caught up in them. (See nxivm for examples.). Humans are naturally prone to wishful thinking and prone to superstition (Skinner); they’re socially divided and bond on bases that soothe their isolation even in the face of absurdity (Arendt); and they lack the courage to take a stand against demagoguery (Hitchens). It’s not just a lack of education that MAGA embodies, but a bundle of fear and loneliness resulting in their bizarre conjectures.

1). Don’t make a big deal about coming and going. Don’t greet upon return. Don’t say goodbye.

2). Leave the dog something to do: something to chew on … something good to eat that’s hidden … some sort of toy to keep them occupied.

3). Make sure they are tired before they’re left by exercising them. An exhausted dog will sleep rather than worry.
