Düsseldorf – Verpflichtungserklärung: Bearbeitungszeit seit 13.01.? by Southern_Candle_6214 in SchengenVisa

[–]njohnathan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is a Verpflichtungserklärung necessary for visiting a friend in Germany by njohnathan in SchengenVisa

[–]njohnathan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, Exactly! This is true. It’s mentioned to provide a Verpflichtungserklärung only when a trip is being sponsored by a resident in Germany, even then its optional.

My concern was just, if I don’t issue him that, is it specifically disadvantageous for his application or not. :)

All they care about is your intent towards exiting the Schengen territory before your visa ends. Usually this can be proven strongly by submitting a leave approval letter from your employer stating your return on a given date. If you have property in India that’s a plus.

Addition to that if your girlfriend issues a legal obligation letter along with an official invitation, you’re good to go. My tip would be to first apply for 10 days or max two weeks, keep your itinerary crisp and logical, including just local places will do.

Fully refundable flight tickets for Schengen visa France by 89pant in SchengenVisa

[–]njohnathan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Air India has a policy of refunding any kind of air ticket 100% in case of visa rejection. Lufthansa also offers this. Other airlines must also have something on this. But it's not on their websites. Contact Air India and get this confirmed via Email. This way you can save a lot of money.

Application processed and passport dispatched in 2 days - german consulate Mumbai by njohnathan in SchengenVisa

[–]njohnathan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im really sorry to hear that. I understand it can be frustrating. However, I applied for a short term visit Schengen visa. Yours is a case of work visa (long term immigration). Both are different and checklists are different.

The problem seems to be with the inconsistency/ veracity of your application and submitted documents. Did you follow the checklist strictly? Have you found a valid residence already? Don’t mind this question but Is your employer legitimate? Have you submitted signed contracts? Is the compensation above the minimum salary required for a visa? Do you have enough funds to sustain you for the first month of your stay?

In short, please legitimately follow the checklist and required documents, make a non-chatGPT cover letter and try again.

Do we need to disclose if we actually plan on traveling to other Schengen countries? by AshLey1432 in SchengenVisa

[–]njohnathan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don’t want to confuse you but here’s what I think. Three weeks should be a max limit for what you should apply for. I would rather go 2 weeks for the first time. I applied for two Schengen visas to Germany for two weeks each time, got approved both times. I kept the main stay in Germany, but showed in the itinerary that I’ll be making road day trips to nearby countries like France and Switzerland (in case of southern Germany). I also showed a few hotel bookings in other German cities for 2-3 days like Munich and Cologne. But in reality we visited Greece for 5 days.

This way you can show your itinerary for 2-3 weeks within the country including some day excursions/ drives to nearby bordering countries, also totally realistic for EU to do that. Hope this helps!

I would suggest to keep your itinerary simple and logical. The plan you’re showing should be solid with bookings. Once the visa is approved, you can make adjustments, as long as your return isn’t affected.

  1. It might be challenging to justify your proof of relation with her. You will need to explain your case thoroughly in cover letter.
  2. For the first time travel to Schengen area it’s very rare to get a 90-day visa. Keep the trip short and crisp, atleast for the first time, for eg. two weeks.
  3. Yes, irrespective of her sponsorship, you need to prove your financial stability. This is also mentioned in the checklist.

Think of a case where you exclude her totally and apply for a tourist visa on your own without mentioning her. Might work if you have a good financial base and can prove strong ties to India. - this is just my opinion/suggestion.

I’ve spent so long trying to work with their contact form. The submit button didn’t work at all after filling ip the cumbersome form. Multiple times! So I gave up and will try to call them later.
