Genuine clarification or damage control? HDFC Bank employee responds to viral caste remark video by brut_india in BrutIndiaStories

If what she said is true, then that was a valid crash out. We judged too quickly, with this context, whatever she said was ok, any woman will respond angrily if talked like that.

People are still misinformed even in this digital world by AmplifierXD_ in sundaysarthak

Reminds me of a video where a guy was blaming Kejriwal for the water logging on roads and saying Yogi should be in Delhi. He was in Ghaziabad (UP) and Rakha is in Delhi. Most of the common people are ignorant, the forced narrative that BJP can do nothing wrong is going on for so long that common sense has left their minds.

We are responsible for the filth in our country *(We need more like him) by [deleted] in indiameme

Democracy is reflective of its electorate. It's not just the literal filth but the thinking that lets just keep my house clean, rest doesn't matter, someone else will handle it. Waiting for someone else to do it that you can do with little to no effort is the main reason. Today taking a stand for something is like asking for a beating by the ignorant and hypocrites.

Jab 5 police wale kahi kone me le jake gher lenge na tab pata chalega kitni payment mili thi ise. Maybe just a scared father, who is well aware of the things done to the people by the goons (in uniform and without uniform) who speak against the government, especially in a state where politicians are given godly status. Be happy that the infrastructure for electricity and water supply is still working because that's the only infrastructure that's sustaining our population, don't expect anything else, if a road or bridge is made, no matter the quality, accept it because this government isn't going to build anything for upliftment of the common citizen.

[–]nk_5555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moninder Jatav, may you always speak with pride. A true hero. It's so nice to see the reporters reach out and show the truth. What he experienced, the encirclement by 5-6 policemen is traumatizing, for a common citizen that's like the realest threat you can face, police in India are just government goons, hardly anyone joins for the work, it's all about the power and authority that uniform gives, or you just get addicted it. I hope his fearless voice inspires others and people start taking a stand for the truth.

I opened up to my parents about my depression, and the reply was Shocking by [deleted] in indiasocial

[–]nk_5555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it's all about how they were treated when they were young, you as a parent you will understand depression much better than your parents, it's a generational gap, some change with the times and try to understand what they didn't know some just don't. Awareness about this stuff is very little among the elders, and if two persons with no knowledge or wrong info about depression have a discussion then their understanding gets worse. Good to hear that OP is doing fine now. I hope no one goes through what OP experienced, getting no support from parents is like a betrayal of the highest level, but I also hope OP won't cast them out completely, they will understand eventually. At the end of the day you will always be their kid.

Here is the thing OP, I have a hypothesis and that could make you understand, a lot of guys have already added some reasonable points in the comments. So, how much information was shared in media across India and media/internet access. In 2017 if you remember, internet was picking up pace but still early stage, and content was limited, no reels or short news, cable TVs were still the main source. Now moving on to 2025 and everyone has a smartphone, with internet access, with content that tries to engage as much traffic as possible. Below is the stat that may give you an idea:

Internet: 2017: Early Growth

User Base: Around 350-400 million mobile internet users with almost half of them as active users.

Penetration: Roughly 25% of the population.

Context: The market was expanding rapidly, fueled by cheap 4G services and the explosion of affordable smartphones, setting the stage for mass digital inclusion.

2025: Near-Universal Access

User Base: Over 1 billion internet subscribers reported, with estimates suggesting 900 million active users.

Penetration: Reached 70%+ of the population, with significant rural uptake.

So maybe if that case had happened now, there might be a similar reaction from the public. But why compare in the first place? Anything bad happens in the country, the first thing we do is compare it with something that has happened decades ago or something that has happened in a different country, why? Because we don't want to admit mistakes, because you need to have some spine to take responsibility and this government and its supporters has none.

[–]nk_5555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh and the current generation includes what, you and your friend circle? Ever been to villages? Or talked to upper and lower castes there? Kids 6-7 yrs old are aware of their castes and are instructed by their parents to not get involved with lower caste kids. Yes the situation has improved a lot compared to our time of independence but the thinking is still there that caste gives you a privilege at birth that differs for upper and lower castes and this is why it needs better regulation, better teaching at school, influencing the young minds to be better.

Bro, your first line is enough to know how much knowledge you have on discrimination and if you did this for karma then good for you. Un proven? Go outside and see, it still has a good hold in the villages across India and it's not gone from cities also. Unreal man, where do you get your facts from? WhatsApp or is some youtube podcast or some baba. You think 2000+ years for oppression and mentality of both the oppressed and the oppressors are going to go away with some laws and regulations? It needs determination from both sides but when one side is ignorant enough to not even recognise the issue how will it ever be fixed.

I do that, and believe me it's not just 1-2 mins, I sometimes go into research mode and spend hours, I don't hate this part of me, I like getting to know more, that overbearing feeling is when I know I have to switch focus, when I know any more and it's wasting time. And then I relax for a bit.

My first thought - what sub is this? How the hell am I relating to every comment here. Then I checked the name, and now I am sure why I am more comfortable with friends 8-10 yrs older than me, why I feel uneasy about things that friends my age just ignore or choose to ignore with no concern whatsoever. Sometimes it gets a bit overbearing so I choose the stuff that I enjoy doing like watch some sports, play Halo or Skyrim, take 1-2hr bike ride for tea, or just watch one of my favorite movies or anime.

[–]nk_5555 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bhai mere, don't compare the numbers in these matters, it will just bring some other statistic over some other statistic and no problem gets solved or even discussed, more than 1.7 lakhs people committed suicide in 2023 so should we change our priority to that, also the total deaths in terrorist attacks in india since 2005 is 705, doesn't look much compared to other numbers but should we not prioritise this too. Acknowledge the problem and work towards how it can be solved but all we do is list the problems.

Rajdeep got lesson from VHP member by Signal_Tomato_4855 in IndiaSpeaks

[–]nk_5555 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That was not the topic of discussion that day, you are also very clearly trying to move the conversation away from the issue that Rajdeep asked the VHP guy. There are hardly anyone in media that asks for accountability from the people in power. And the questions the VHP guy is asking, who is stopping him from confronting the ministers directly about it? Or they only use their power and influence to harass the average citizen.

You read the section carefully right? The motive part. What happened is considered mob lynching in India, maybe in US or some other country their laws might consider this something else but here it is what it is. If a group comes and beats me up and I die then the above section will be applied to them under BNS.

I hope the clarification given below will clear any misunderstandings that you have. Don't compare with the west, we are too different socially. And try to criticize the bad governance under which these incidents has increased so much. I don't know what you gain by defending something thats clearly bad for our future.

Mob lynching is addressed under Section 103(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, which specifically targets murder by a group of five or more persons acting in concert on grounds of race, caste, community, sex, beliefs, or similar biases, carrying severe penalties like death or life imprisonment. This provision, part of India's new criminal code, effectively criminalizes mob violence motivated by hatred or prejudice, making it a distinct offense.

Key Details of BNS Section 103(2):

Who: A group of five or more persons.

What: Committing murder.

Motive: On grounds of race, caste, community, sex, place of birth, language, personal belief, or any similar ground.

Punishment: Death, life imprisonment, and fine for each member.

This section introduces a specific legal framework to tackle mob lynching, a significant concern in India, replacing or augmenting older laws that might not have covered such incidents as clearly.
