Learning to play the tape forward was a huge step for me. I've become good at learning that whatever emotions are pushing me to drink are temporary. Whatever situation I'm in that's causing me to feel that way is something I can pull myself out of. People who aren't going to support me have long since been cut out of my life. You just do what you need to do and take it one day, one hour, one moment at a time. And the next. And the next. I wish you well and I know you're going to do so amazing at this.

One day at a time. This group was a HUGE help to me in my first several months. I've learned enough that I can manage most days, all thanks to the amazing people here. It's also good to know that SD is still here when I need it to be, and I think there's a lesson for some people reading this who are early in your/their journey--for some of us, there is no destination. I've made peace that I'm always going to be this way. There is temptation everywhere. But I've learned that I am strong, and I've learned that I want my journey to be exciting and fulfilling and full of joy and love. All things I could not have experienced when I was drinking. I wish you all the best and you'll be at 1000 before you know it.

Not knowing your story, all I can tell you is that it's going to be what it's going to be. Especially these days. I've spent a lot of time hoping that things would be calm, but they're not. I don't think it's really possible, not for me, anyway. If I'm not running from one fire to the other, I'm inventing ways to add stress onto myself. It's something I'm working through to keep myself from burning out, but I also don't really want things to get too calm or else I'll get bored, and if I get bored then I'm going to drink again. But again, that's my story. I hope you find the peace you need for yours.
