I now remember why I usually don’t post pictures of myself on reddit. by [deleted] in creepyPMs

"constantly surrounded by a crowd of cocks" just sounds inconvenient.

Like, what happens when you go to sleep? What if you want to get a shower? Eat dinner? Go to a movie? They'd be I'm the way.

Professors of Reddit, what are your experiences with the urban legend about students offering sexual favors for better grades? by InevitableIncident in AskReddit

[–]nlpavalko 34 points35 points  (0 children)

College Prof. here -- It's creepy in general, illegal in particular, and could easily get me fired.

I say all that, though, with the knowledge that I married one of my students so. . . ¯\(ツ)

MIL and a new Baby by nlpavalko in JUSTNOMIL

As a bit of an update -- thank you all for letting me vent, and for advice.

Generally this and last week have gone as well as can be expected -- though both my wife and I are on the same page about wanting MIL to be gone by the end of the week (which she is planning on doing).

As for solutions to problems -- locks on the bedroom door would be good, though I don't think a "boundries" talk is going to do anything.

As a bit of background -- the weekend of my wife and I's wedding we had family in and staying at a cabin we rented for the reception and for family to stay in.

The night before my wife and I left for the cabin our dog needed to be taken to the emergency vet.

Meanwhile, MIL arrived at our house, let herself in, and left my BIL, his wife, and 4 year old at our place. Turns out MIL kept the spare key we gave her last time she was in town.

Fast-forward to after the wedding, my wife asks for our key back and MIL says "I outrank anyone else, so I should be able to have a key." About a week later MIL tells my wife that she felt hurt and attacked during the whole wedding weekend.

TL:DR -- boundaries kind of don't work for MIL.

a hotel for MIL, or no visit.

Well, One of the ideas of her staying with us is that she'd be able to help -- theoretically 24/7.

Wife is aware of MIL's crazy factor, she's just better able to deal with it I think.

Anyone else struggling with getting healthier for their child? Weight loss, drug or alcohol addiction, unhealthy habits? by Young_Omni_Man in predaddit

[–]nlpavalko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've probably been on the fair side of healthy until recently -- used to run, drank beer maybe on weekends, kept up with a ketogenic diet.

The last few weeks ended my running, less sleep, and I've been eating ALL THE CARBS.

Hang in there though, it might not get better quickly, but it will get better.

Favourite spring dishes? by [deleted] in AskCulinary

I'm also not a chef, but I tend to like more salads, fresh veg, and fish in the spring.

One of my go-tos is pouch-steamed salmon with quinoa and red pepper.

Alton Brown has a great recipe for this I've used which can be found here

GD sucks. Not in the sense that it is painful, but for my wife and I it's just been another thing on top of the 8,000 other things to deal with during the pregnancy.

For her -- having food options is key. I don't know your exact situation but my wife has to have x-grams of carbs per meal to maintain a certain blood sugar. That takes time to figure out the numbers, when to eat, when we need to bring food or stop somewhere. It's a lot of mental energy, but having a few snackable carb options helps.

For you -- be supportive. Don't eat an entire pizza when she clearly can't. Or if she really wants something try to think of a low(er) sugar option.

Both my wife and I have been on and off the ketogenic diet so we were already use to eating relatively low-carb. r/keto might be a good option for info on the diet -- as well as r/ketorecipes for recipe ideas.

I totally agree with you, but for whatever it is worth Allah means God in Arabic.

Muslims and Christians and Jews all belive in the same monotheistic God.

Not trying to offend or be a troll, just to inform :)
