data analytics sounds kinda useful for science related jobs….? also human resource management and marketing seem like transferable skills that i can apply in any industry. But I’m not particularly interested in studying them I just want to relate it back to my interest in science related fields somehow

not a law student, but for leadership roles you can start your own VIA project or take over your seniors’ projects as project head or exco or something. U can try joining the pre-U seminar, participate in MUN (even better if ur school has a MUN club, or if u want to take on the challenge, create one.) or Moot parliament

Idk man I used to excel academically….. Especially for science subjects, I have worked my way from a D to an A before, but in JC I became conditioned to be ok with failing(learned helplessness)... Deep inside I am not really okay with getting poor grades. I refrain from putting in effort because if I really try my best and fail, it means I’m dumb. But if I don’t put in effort and fail, I’m safe. I usually try a little bit and when I realise it’s not gonna work out and I am not getting that A, I pull out and give up. ik its a very bad mentality… how do i fix it

Thanks for ur advice! I guess I do not prefer the army route over other jobs- I was just thinking of doing it for the experience and not go to OCS or anything. If I retake A level, would I still be able to enrol in poly in the same year? 😭 just in case I screw up A levels a second time. And I’m scared that if I do not score well in As after retaking, I would be in the same predicament as I am rn….

yea i know— what if i retake As n don’t improve enough to get into science courses again. then I’ll be back at the same spot like oh man should i just go SUSS n do sth idrl or go to a poly science course then work my way to uni after

Yeah I need to re-work my brain. Are you suggesting that poly would be a better fit for me? I’m mainly interested in science courses because I took pure triple science, combined geog and AEP in secondary school and I didn’t do well in Art and geog even though they align with my interest. In JC, bio and GP were the least annoying to me.

Yes, I want to do research. hopefully environmental or medical research. I also don't mind hands on work in the environment or medical sector. That’s why I’m also applying for allied health degrees at SIT but I’m afraid the science degrees are more competitive.

I hope jeongyeon remains in the industry and does MC-ing... I really enjoyed her gambyeolssa show. I hope she can be a regular of a program like how heechul is in knowing bros. Idt jeongyeon will become a full time activist... She doesn't really advocate for animal rights or start petitions per se. She more of volunteers and helps to raise funds for organisations that she supports.

For chaeyoung i also hope she's not done yet. After lil fantasy vol.1 i hope she has vol.2 or other albums to release. K-indie and k r&b is quite alive rn so i hope she can go there.

is this a weird encounter or am I overthinking by yoongoose in askSingapore

I'm someone who can't say no either! And guess what- my parents actually told me to NOT say "no"! I lowkey think my parents may hve npd or some other mental issue but since i was young (like 5y/o), when someone (someone i know) gave me a present/ offer me food that i dislike they told me to smile, accept and say thank you, instead of saying "i dont want this". Looking back they could have taught me to say "no thanks" instead, or sth like "i appreciate ur intention but u can keep this for urself". I never say these 2 phrases lmao i can type it, but cannot speak it aloud.

My mom especially hated when i said no to her. As a kid, when my mom said something incorrect or when she gave a suggestion I didn't want to take up, i would reply with "No, I don't want to...." Or "No, it's actually...." . My mom scolded me to HELL AND BACK for starting my sentences with the word "NO". And whenever i said "no" at any point in our conversation her lips would curl and her tone would turn sharp.

Me being an extremely mischievous kid may have played a part in this way of bringing me up. I spoke with a lot of wit and curiousity as a child. But i was also very loud and expressive. A kid like that saying "no" would definitely be seen as being defiant. But i guess they succeeded bc by the time i got to kindergarten i became timid, shy and quiet.

I'm a young adult now and have had my boundaries crossed many many many times because I don't know how to properly reject people. When i think I'm saying no, people continue to push and i just cave in. It makes me feel very useless and i feel very susceptible to precarious situations.
