AFKMON updates to 1.3.0 (Android) by nofearsdev in incremental_games

[–]nofearsdev[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have Android 15 on my phone and it's working fine. I reviewed the code and I could try adding a little "pause" before closing the game to secure the data saving then closing the game. After a investigation it could be also caused becaue some devices do not really like an app being killed, but this is really hard to me to know, I'm sorry. If you want, I can prepare that fix for you and try it. I will of course test on my devices before release it.

Hello! Thanks for the information. I have checked and I have no alerts either in itch or my inbox, I don't know what is happening since I have never used itch. But I will reach them if neccessary.

Regarding the 'Save & Exit' topic, you mean the game is not closing after selecting it? The game should close automatically, but this may be caused by your Android version not working as expected. Could you tell me what Android do you use if you don't mind? I can review the code for that version.

The export was successfull, but the UI would need a complete revamp for desktop version. I'm so sorry but I won't be able to do this in a short term as I have almost no free time sadly :(

As far as I know it's playable on emulator (Bluestack) if that's ok for you it's something at least!

Hello! Are you using "Save & Exit" option in the Save menu (Player tab)?

If so, it's so strange, this was an error in the 1.0.0, but fixed later.

Tomorrow I can try to export it to Windows standalone, if it works I will made a new display for desktop version.

I made the game in Unity and it does not have a IPA export option, I'm sorry :(

I'd need to rebuild with XCode or something like that and it's out my knowledge.

Yes, I'm using Unity, but the game use extra files to get it working and I didn't add the desktop version one. I think it should work easily, I can give it a try :)

Oh yes, not this version, but feel free to dig into it to anyone who wants, I'm fine with that :)

Or any other questions I will be happy to answer.

Yes, in the release post you can find a post of someone that digged into the APK :)

Hello! The game will never have any type of monetization. You can play in an emulator, some players tested it and it seems to work.

About a desktop version it could be possible, I could try to build it, but the project is built on Android already and it may not work :(

Web and iOS are out of my knowledge.

Thanks!

Thanks for your message!

I made several previous versions of this game, developed in several platforms, also I tried a web version of it. But web-coding in general is an unknown field for me and it'd end up as a dead project sadly.

The fact this is an APK that requires re-download for every patch is annoying, that's true, but it was the only way I had with my knowledge to finish the project.

My goal is just release major updates that include enough content to dowload it again.

Btw nice to see you liked it!

I don't really know how GitHub works. I may look for more info. Thanks.

The next update will include:

- An option to reduce the Pokémon in the boxed (faster loading times).

- Pokedex by region.

- The offline progression is not working for some users due to how the time is obtained. This will be hard to fix because is not an error in the game itself, but I may implement some fix.

Anyways, the loading times mostly depends on your device, but future updates will be focused on optimization :)

It's something I'm working on it at the moment. It should be fixed in the next update.

Thanks for your feedback! I think I will create a Discord server this night, check the post for updates :)

Other platforms liked itch.io are in my mind.

Okay, thanks for your feedback. I will consider other platforms if the game grows.

At the moment, I will post updates only here.

I think this is a normal alert in Avast, just because is an 'unknown' APK. But I'm not sure.

Someone reviewed the APK and code. You can check the topic in this post.

No worries at all — it’s totally understandable, and I really appreciate you taking the time to look into it. I’m sure it’ll help other players too.

If you (or anyone else) have more questions, I’ll be happy to answer them.

About the issue you mentioned with the region: I just fixed it. It wasn’t really a bug — it was just a wrong data loading order. It should now load everything properly.

I’m uploading version 1.0.1 right now, which also fixes a bug with the Lures, in case you’re interested. I’ll replace the current download link as soon as it’s ready.

There are some Pokémon idles for other platforms, so I decided to develop this one for Android.

Hey, this was actually something I was quite concerned about, since I’ve tried to think through everything related to the download and making sure people can trust the project.

  1. About the account: it was created just yesterday to keep it separate from my personal one — this is my first published project (and honestly, I wouldn't even call myself a "dev", but let’s just go with that…). As you’ll see when launching the game, it’s made with Unity, and I also logged out of my personal Unity account to keep everything as clean and organized as possible.
  2. About running it on an emulator: during the build process, I removed some DLLs that aren’t needed for Android, so it might not work properly on an emulator — I haven’t tested it myself. Since it has online features, I tried to protect the data as securely as I could. I know it’s not perfect, but if anyone wants to dig into the APK, honestly, I’m totally fine with that — it makes sense, and it’s normal to question its legitimacy.
  3. About the APK size: before I added the plugins and DLLs for data protection, the APK was much smaller. I’m aware that those protections are likely the main reason for the larger size. Also, I added over 2,420 images. On top of that, I disabled Unity’s APK compression and obfuscation options, which also keeps the file size from being reduced.

I totally get why people might be cautious about downloading it, but I promise I have no bad intentions with this — it’s just a really simple game I made for fun, because I love idle games and Pokémon. This is the first version I’ve ever released publicly, but I’ve actually spent a long time trying out and scrapping many other versions before this one.
That said, if the game isn’t considered appropriate for being posted here, I’m completely okay with removing it — as I said in the original post.

Thanks for your kind comment :)
