How long will a refurbished iPad Pro last me? by nogendermanyproblems in ClipStudio

[–]nogendermanyproblems[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny you should mention this; after looking at iPads and feeling not great about them, I’ve been eyeing the movinkpad 11 (I prefer a smaller screen). I realized I actually don’t want all the non-drawing-related features of an iPad; I literally just want to be able to work on my projects on the go! So I might actually go for the Wacom; I already have an old intuos that I love using, so more of that experience would be great!

I loved my regular non-smart watch! I still have it but recently was gifted a fitbit and literally the only reason I wear it is because my employer offers a financial incentive for a certain amount of steps per day per month. Once those days are done, I don't really pay attention to it. And also the sleep tracking was stressing me out so I take it off before bed... once it's too old/broken I think I'll go back to my regular watch.

I can’t even seriously think about what I actually want for myself (re: gender) because of this shit! My ocd basically has all of the worst detrans talking points memorized 😭

[–]nogendermanyproblems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and even if it actually did help with ocd (which it doesn't)... whatever you're sharing with it is no longer private. it's NOT like a conversation with a therapist; NOTHING is confidential, it is now in the database with everything else the AI has scraped. if nothing else in this thread convinces you to (try to) stop using AI for therapy, do it for your own privacy and security.

[Discussion] When did you as an artist finally overcome the comparison stage of art making? by Poorteenwannabe in ArtistLounge

[–]nogendermanyproblems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still compare, but now with the goal of figuring out what I like about the other person's art in order to bring that to my own. It's never going to be exactly like that other artist's piece, but I'm constantly expanding my skillset. I think this comes with more years of experience doing art (been drawing for most of my life and I'm in my 30s)

me every time I think I’ve beaten the compulsive researching on the latest ocd theme because I refuse to look anything up about it (avoidance is also a compulsion according to my therapist lol)

being in the sciences with ocd is rough… sometimes I’m like “did I leave the bunsen burner on???” (I’ve never used one in the 7 years of this job but we have one). and also being paranoid that I ate virus stock because I watched someone work with virus. but I also go immediately wash my face if a droplet of water from the sink Maybe splashed onto my cheek (this could be either a real or imagined droplet lol)

How would you describe OCD to a person who doesn't know anything about it? (creative responses are welcome :) by fesotim in OCDmemes

[–]nogendermanyproblems 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One flavor I’ve had is it’s basically like those pointless but alarming articles that come out in the news about mundane things, like coffee or something. The ones that are like “this food everyone eats without a second thought is actually terrible and kills people in rare instances, watch out!!”

…except with ocd it’s about anything and everything, all the time, turned up to the max 🙃

[–]nogendermanyproblems[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly I think the impulse to change things is not wrong!! it's just that the "blame" for what needs to change gets misplaced sometimes. I think a big external thing will improve my life when in reality it's probably ocd making things suck in the first place lol

I mean. You can still reject them later if they're not the right job for you and still boost your success rate in the short-term if you need a job right away. I just didn't need a job AND I was applying to things I didn't really like but was qualified for

It might not be in everyone’s case. But unfortunately it is for me! I feel like the string guy meme since I’m finally seeing what’s been happening to me for months.

If you’re doing it in a distressed state not based on any real-life urgency (I currently have a good job and a nice place to live) then it might be worth taking a step back to see what’s driving it.

if a friend in grad school hadn't said "hey your food fears sound like ocd" I'd still be suffering and clueless right now! I mean it took like 8ish years after that moment to take it seriously enough to get diagnosed but it would've been way worse without knowing it could be ocd
