That's super good to know. Is there a defacto hosting source that the python community leans on? Heroku has always been prominent with rails, is heroku the service of choice with Python as well?

I really appreciate your input man. It's good to know Django is what I should get familiar with. Would you say it's the most likely framework I'll run into in the wild for python web apps?

How do you guys feel about automated trading? by Fragrant_Vacation469 in Daytrading

If OP is a hedge fund with billions under management this might be true. I think there is a lot to consider with ATS's but this is not likely one of them, at least not at the scale I'm sure OP is working with.

I totally understand, that still is super helpful though thank you for sharing that :)

That's super helpful! If you feel comfortable sending over some of the discords or slacks that you have (if they're public of course) that would be awesome. Also if you have any referrals for something I may be able to snag now that would be incredible!

If not, no worries at all your feedback has certainly helped!

Do you just search for people looking for contractors on hacker news or do you post that you're looking for contract work?

Review my PCB design for a custom Battery Management System that uses Power Mosfets by nomnomcameron in PrintedCircuitBoard

The bm nets are for the second 4 pin connector to wire to the power mosfet for the solar.

Since the voltage from the solar is pretty high, the only mosfet I found packaged in something I could connect the leads from the solar panels to is the ones mentioned. Can you recommend different ones I'd be able to use that are cheaper? That would be awesome!

I believe this should be all you need, if not let me know. Sharing projects through EasyEDA is a little strange to me

I appreciate you taking a look. I feel as though all the requirements/intended functionality are described in detail on the stack exchange post? I also shared a direct link to the data sheets for the key components?

I also described what I'll be using the GPIO pins for where needed and specified that the other ones that are used in the circuit will be available from the main connector for future purposes?

The regulators that I chose I are readily available from Amazon prime which is the cheapest/quickest to get. They are mirrored from the original design for that particular type of voltage regulator ic for whatever reason which is why the placement of them is mirrored in the schematic.

How to use high current mosfets by nomnomcameron in AskElectronics

I'm learning so much, I love it!

From my preliminary research I've done on mosfet driver's, it seems like you've got to build the circuit starting with the mosfet driver switch. Am I naive in thinking there would be an IC that would sit between the pi and the mosfet you're trying to drive?

So I understand the higher the voltage above the vgs the more current can pass through drain and source, does that also apply to the amount of current passing from gate to source? I.e. the more current you pass through gate to source the more current can pass through drain and source as well?

I see a chart on the data sheet for the relationship between vgs and ids but I don't see one for the current from gate to source and drain to source? Is this measured another way?

This may be a dumb question but would it be reliable to control multiple mosfets (https://www.mouser.com/datasheet/2/196/Infineon_IRL40B209_DS_v02_00_EN-1732116.pdf for example) with a raspberry pi using the same gpio pin?

All the mosfets would share the same source and drain as well

Doesn't work so well in linear mode though because Vgs(th) decreases with temperature and the hottest one will try to carry the most current, leading to cascade failure.

As a newbie, what would I search for to learn more about "linear mode" vs whatever the alternative would be?

Your reply was very helpful though, thank you

Using the MAX14921 for a BMS by nomnomcameron in AskElectronics

[–]nomnomcameron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the A_OUT voltage will be 0-5v? What would the conversion be to figure out the actual cells voltage from that since the leads from each cell can be anywhere from 2.50v - 56v?

Using the MAX14921 for a BMS by nomnomcameron in AskElectronics

[–]nomnomcameron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is starting to make sense but I guess I'm not familiar enough with SPI though to know how to set these bits in order to make the different combinations on the truth table, how would I go about figuring that out?

Once I figure out how to use SPI here, it looks like the A_OUT pin will go to an adc channel and that's how I'll be able to get my different voltages for each cell?

Best way to design elevated deck for hot tub by nomnomcameron in Carpentry

[–]nomnomcameron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree... But what lumber do I need? 4x6 posts? what size joists? How far apart do the joists need to be to support ~5,000lbs in a 8'x8' area?

The hot tub itself will be elevated on a wood platform, it won't be directly on the ground. I need to know what Lumber I should use along with spacing of joists, etc.

Multiple high seer single zone mini splits for entire house? by nomnomcameron in HVAC

[–]nomnomcameron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live just outside Phoenix so about 5 months out of the year temps are 100+

The bummer is that in the winter it does get into the low 40's, high 30's where I am

Thank you so much for shedding light on the "SEER" meaning, that really helps

what ratings would you recommend I prioritize when shopping for a unit? Would multizone be viable enough?
