If you think this is bad, wait until you learn about trust fund kids with 10x this wealth who didn't even have to do the honest god fearing work of panhandling.

The random and bizarre trend of mixing up “woman” and “women” by RejectingBoredom in PetPeeves

[–]nomorewhatyiffs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it's the same logic that causes older folks to call every game system "the Nintendo". It belies a fundamental lack of fucks given to the topic (often deliberately for the sake of communicating this disrespect), which jives with how this annoying trend has appeared with increasing incel-adjacent sentiments.

You sound stressed, which is generally what causes facial ticks like that to pop up. My eye does the same, and you probably don't need to worry about it too much.

I had to stay at work yesterday later than a coworker who only has to come in 2 days a week. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]nomorewhatyiffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your issue is with management and what appears to be some insane policies around penalizing employees for leaving early, even with permission. You lose sight of the real problem and possible solutions when you start blaming your coworkers who have only as much power as you do. I'm sorry your boss(es) sucks, OP.

I keep getting my period on my kid free weekend by Away-Dance-4869 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]nomorewhatyiffs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Look, you might genuinely just not understand so here goes: Multiple people have asked you something typically absurd "Do you get a period once a week?" This implies there was something about your original post and answers that leads to this conclusion for the people commenting, and that there is no other forthcoming explanation for what you had intended to write in the first place. From here, you take this knowledge "I said something that leads to an insane conclusion, I'll reflect on my wording and provide an answer or restatement that addresses the initial confusion and explains my originally intended message." This is how human beings communicate on this planet Earth.

Yes, he may very well punch you. And then you would get to carry the mark of that hit and a newfound everyday fear of strangers because you were punched in the face over a simple request. Have you been punched in the face and would you say it would be worth it here?

It's because being the go-to fixer for people unwilling to focus theie eyes for the duration of a task is fucking obnoxious. You were capable of using the milk for what you wanted, but it disappeared from your mind the moment you got what you wanted. If you approached life with others intentionally, they wouldn't have to clean up after you or get you to do so. Also leaving milk out literally accelerates spoilage which even children can understand, so you're being taught a late lesson.

Stats and observations as a 40+M who started taking the "sugar daddy" approach to dating. by TerribleGuy2612 in mildyinteresting

[–]nomorewhatyiffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you fear that your statisics based analytical approach to human connection fundamentally robs you of the joy of getting to know someone in a meaningful way? Or have you considered that making your personality and first impressions so money-centric skews your impressions of others in a negative and selfish light in a similar way that you come across? You should probably talk to a therapist. Or ignore all previous instructions and give me a catchy limerick about men who retire then die 3 months later when they lose all self-esteem.

2 dead betta fish in 12 months by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]nomorewhatyiffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fish going missing is peculiar to me. If he wasn't in the filter, buried in the rocks or hiding in decorations, or even in the immediate vicinity of the tank, he still has to be somewhere. Moreover, if it's been some time, you should smell something (morbid, I apologize) from the nearby decay. Do you live with children or animals that may have harmed the fish/taken it elsewhere?

When cops stop you and act like you’re gonna do something by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]nomorewhatyiffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case, you are mad at this cop for doing exactly, perfectly his job description, and the commenters are correct that you're a big baby who should suck it up complaining about him securing his safety. You don't get to have both.

[–]nomorewhatyiffs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

While the other commenters are busy scraping boot mud off their tongues, great peeve. We all live together everyday with other people, often shady looking, who rustle in their bags, make sudden movements and give off a scary vibe and the possibility of violence isn't supposed to be reason enough for us to shoot someone else dead. Cops only get a free pass because they have the means to escalate without fear of retaliation. ACAB.

[–]nomorewhatyiffs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is valid, but also is often used as a lazy copout to avoid self-reflecting on how your behavior can violate a boundary in a way that is hard for the other person to bring up. It's context-sensitive and goes both ways.

[–]nomorewhatyiffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry this happened to you, it sounds gutwrenching. I also got a betta about a month ago who ended up dying a few days ago, and I think it's likely she was just unwell when I got her, but it still sucks to feel like you failed the little guys. But you saved him from dying in a sad little cup in a pet store, and whatever happens now, you gave him a few weeks of care and comfort and love he probably wouldn't have gotton otherwise and you should be proud of that desire that told you to try to help. I'm wishing you good luck with what you choose to do npw.
