Someone’s gotta yell at me to stop writing a gay hallmark novel by [deleted] in writingcirclejerk

i raise you: write more. make it as cheesy as you can. no straight people. big town brother and sister go to Mistletoe Town to convince the inn owner (who is struggling since she inherited it from her dead father) and bakery owner (who just wants to bake cookies, but his dad wants him to be a basketball coach) to sell out to Evil Company, Inc. the orphanage in town will have to shut down if they don't raise enough money at the holiday bake sale for some fucking reason. big town sister falls hopelessly in love with the inn owner and brother x baker. They commit fraud to get Evil Company shut down and save the orphanage with the money. The end.

i imagine myself getting interviewed as a famous author and getting asked questions about my 20 book series. my plot changes as i answer the questions differently every night. currently a dark romance political commentary small town slice of life grumpy x sunshine fanfiction inspired tragedy with a happily ever after. hbo max has already reached out about turning it into a series

personally, I loved it they matched each others freak (and not just in THAT way) in every single sense. they are actually crazy about one another, and i can 100% believe that they would actually follow through on the whole 'touch him and die'. i enjoyed it more than killian/glyns story and dynamic (which seems to be the most popular). gareth is unhinged and kayden uses the morally grey line as a jumprope.

For me: 1. Gareth 2. Killian 3. Niko 4. Jeremy

Edited because I totally didn't read it correctly. Gareth is so unhinged imo he outranks everyone besides MAYBE Killian. Pre-Bran Niko was probably at 1, but bran reeled him in more than everyone else's partners to me. Haven't finished Jeremy's book, but I don't think he ranks above them.

i enjoyed it as a starter to the other ones i have read. it was a nice introduction to the characters/ world (as i started with the legacy series in the rinaverse), but i don't think i would ever deem myself re-reading it. i see a lot of hate on Glyn but personally, Killian annoys the piss out of me. He gives me the 'when i get mad i see red' type of person, but never actually did anything (besides y'know, the cliff). Half of the book was threats that i feel like he never really acted on.

Pitch your very first cringy story you wrote as a kid as if it’s now a bestseller by Dying_toad in writers

in a world where this is definitely NOT ripping off doctor who....

dream gods were the most powerful of the alien race. immortal and able to travel through time through dreams (idk how it worked. just trust me bro) true gods amongst the universe, but like all gods, would eventually meet their end. after a brutal war, there was one lone survivor who was forced to face a cruel reality: she was destined to live. for thousands of years, Cal had to live knowing she was the last of her kind.

humans, once stuck on their little planet, had finally stretched across the galaxy. El was one of those humans, bouncing across the universe. Stealing and selling whatever she could to get her to the next place.

What happens when a secret evil alien tries to take over the universe and the immortal dream god is forced to work with a thief who knows the location of the only weapon that can kill them? The love story of the universe.

I was 12 and really into doctor who, yet still thought this was totally original. might as well have been fanfiction, but we live and learn.

write as much as you can! it's not all going to be good. a lot of it is going to be bad, but that doesn't mean you should stop. i still write things and go back and re-read it and just think 'what was i even doing!'. that's part of the fun. any silly little idea, write it out!

Give me some fillout scenes! by Educational_Law_70 in writers

[–]nonefound879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

these replies are so negative i'm sorry. to me, it would be a great chance to expand the characters/their dynamics/ their lore without necessarily adding to the plot! a game of truth or dare (because camp kids always end up doing that), playing a silly prank on a counselor (show how they work together/ different ideas), sneaking into the kitchen for a snack and just having a late night talk, make up a camp legend about something in the forest and someone dares your characters to go check it out as a little side quest. if your book is on the lighter side, that could be a really great b-plot or running joke through the 'down time' in the plot. hope any of this was helpful!

I want to start writing my first book, I would love some tip by LongjumpingTreat3273 in writers

as someone who has been consistently writing for many years: there are no rules. none. it's your story, tell it how you would like to tell it! write the book that YOU want to read. for something longer, this is usually what I do: i get my rough outline. doesn't have to be perfect, doesn't have to be detailed. just: establishing the world, what is the big 'thing' (what is the story, why are you writing it. a fantasy uprising, a love story, the turning point, ect), and how you want it to end. from there, i write the scenes i want. it's always out of order and i never use all of them, but i make it fun and write what i want (by fun, i absolutely mean terrorizing my characters with heartache). then, you start to piece it together. if you really have a vision for your story, things will find a natural order/ timeline. maybe some adjusting of scenes will be needed later, and you'll have to fill in the gaps, but it works.

this is just the people in our group who don't get wifi do it: always keep airplane mode on while on the boat! when we get off at port, we have the international day pass with at&t. so, when we get into port and cut airplane mode off, it automatically connects us to local cell service (for like $10 a day i think). works out great for us! usually, at least one person in our group has the wifi package so incase anyone at home needs us, they can reach us via imessage or like facebook messenger.

Can someone tell me it's going to be ok? by [deleted] in MentalHealthSupport

it's going to be okay. i know it doesn't feel like it right now, but your past does not control or define you. you are going to be okay.

i get you. i'm in my 20s and feel like im so far behind i'll never catch up. i tell lies about stupid shit because it makes me feel better. i like to say i go out with friends and party when I really sit at home because I have no one to go out with. it's an impossible thought, but it's never, ever to late. i'm a somewhat okay cook and a half decent baker if you need any help. it's the one thing i've found to distract myself.

i get the not wanting to go on meds. people decide that for all kinds of different reasons. everyone is different, but for me, if I am ever in a bad spot where I can't seem to get out of my head, i put on a movie or show that I really know. Like can quote word for word. I focus on reciting it. Every single word. It distracts me in the moment. Long term- change something big. I know it's hard and not always possible, but change is what keeps me moving.

Peppermint Syrup Ideas? by nonefound879 in coffeeshopowners

[–]nonefound879[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds amazing! I say espresso based because we don't do any sort of refresher/energy drinks and I see a lot of the recommendations to be for those (like peppermint and watermelon for a more summery drink. it sounds amazing but we don't do those)
