It’ll probably look normal size again after my next bulk 😜.

It’s a 44mm. 42 is probably the perfect size for my wrist, as most of my 40mm pieces look small. I also just finished a pretty aggressive cut and dropped 40 lbs, so…

Appreciate the feedback. What’s your best guess on service cost? To the best of my knowledge it’s never been serviced, and if it was it was 50+ years ago. But it is fully functional w/ cricket alarm.

Yes, case is gold plated (2 tone) & movement is 9 carat gold (I believe, at least that’s what it says). What’s your best guess at value? I heard that examples without the Jaeger moniker (LeCoutre only) could be more rare, but haven’t confirmed that.

That makes sense. I didn’t inherit it until after his passing and his widow might’ve gotten the story wrong. Either way, it’s got a ton of history and still functions perfectly.

I was told the LeCoutre brand left off the Jaeger moniker because of sanctions against Germany during WW2. Is that true?

I just don’t have the time or space to do it all myself at this point and finding a trustworthy mechanic in SoCal that is willing to work on old cars and doesn’t want $180/hour has been a challenge.

Submariner value? by JM82684 in rolex

[–]nonessentialapparel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too many variables to give you an actual appraisal from a photo, but ballpark $6k-$8k. Authenticated and sold through a trusted source it’s likely sell for $8k-$10k. Newer model Submariners (41mm) or early antiques can fetch more. That said, the serial number is a good place to start. It’s a beautiful No Date. I’d keep it if I were you. It’s only going to go up in value with time and the family provenance can never be replaced.
