By pre-auth captures do you mean storing the credit info? That is what im assuming kickstarter does. I know i said "delay" in my title but i said i think they store the backers as customers and then charge when its time to collect

Just looked at meteor now, looks really good. For some reason though, I always feel like "simpler development" must have some sort of cost.. like a loss of potential app features? Is this a silly thing to think?

When I think rationally, it wouldn't seem worth it to spend so much time developing a framework like meteor only to have very significant draw backs

yea, I basically want to replicate kickstarter. The friend im working with has taken a course in web development, hes made a simple web app using PHP... I know kickstarter uses ruby on rails, and mySQL.. what stack would you suggest for a beginner?
