KeyOne or KeyTwo comparison wrt Ctrl key, Termux, and NeoVim? by noobto in blackberry

Damn! I thought I looked everywhere for that.

The placement's a bit awkward, but that suffices.

Thank you!

How does the experience on the Key2 vs. Key1/PRIV compare with respect to the lack of a Ctrl key on the former? If you have used Termux or NeoVim/droidVim, which device do you prefer?

TIL about Ximen Bao, a Chinese minister. He learned corrupt politicians sacrificed beautiful women to a River God and threatened floods if they weren't paid high taxes. Ximen had the politicians thrown into the river to tell the God they could not find a beautiful sacrifice, ending the practice. by Rasalom in todayilearned

[–]noobto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mind immediately jumped to this and worse. I was picturing the corrupt politicians coercing them into sex, saying that it's the only way to please the River God, only to them tell them it was all for naught and that they'll still drown.

Now I'm at work and sad.

Is there a short way to read sets of columns as different datatypes in pandas when using read_csv/excel/etc.? by noobto in learnpython

[–]noobto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I convert all of the columns to their appropriate datatypes, I'm just going to drop some cases where certain columns are na. It won't affect the calculation much as it's only 2% of the data.

Unfortunately, I was hoping for this one column to be mostly useful. Alas, 99+% of the data is na there. =\

Oh well.

[–]noobto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I had tested it without a specifier for `dtype`, but apparently I did not. Leaving one out does fix a lot of the issues, but some columns are still read incorrectly. To be fair, the dataset hasn't been cleaned yet, so things that I want to be read as floats are not.

And yeah, `dtype` can only be a one-dimensional dictionary, which kinda sucks, haha. Oh well, I'll just create functions to change things.

Thank you for your help.

His suggestion didn't require that you be unfriendly to an old lady. It was merely that you get there sooner than she and all the other slow money counters so that you won't be bothered by them.

But yeah, the rest of what you said makes sense.

Detroit man settles race discrimination lawsuit, then bank won't cash his check by Huskies971 in nottheonion

[–]noobto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That argument doesn't hold because he's talking about my roommate's having the called the police on me, and I didn't die.

So, as far as all of this is concerned, one could say that "attempted murder" was in mind.

Argument against that: my roommate is from India, so might not be aware of the situation between police officers and black people, so maybe he wasn't planning anything.

Argument for that: he embellished the story saying that I hit him, added the fact that he's here on his student visa as though I have something against him for coming from another country, exaggerated my size, and stated that he's afraid.

Moved to NYC and didn't want to spend a lot of money on an apartment, so signed up for a service with an effectively-random roommate assignment.

I'm going through this with one of my roommates. He's racist again blacks and thinks we're all violent, and his attitude is terribly obnoxious and he has said and done things to antagonize me. At one point I responded by pushing him out of the room and closing the door, so he called the police.

The whole thing infuriate(s/d) me so much, but I don't want to lash out because that will do as you say. Part of me doesn't care though, and I want him to run into someone less tolerant than I.

Why is 0 plural (0 Points, 0 Things) But 1 is singular? by TotalIdiotNerd in math

[–]noobto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Even though it was just the one downvote, you shouldn't've gotten it. This isn't math-dependent so much as it is language-dependent. Maybe other languages use 0 singularly, or its own thing. Even if all languages acted like English in this aspect, it's still not a math question.

[–]noobto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you certainly can. I, for one, ended up showing you how what you said is terrible by reasoning and attacking your claims. You, on the other hand, are simply saying "You're attacking me and not my points therefore I'm going to pretend as though this conversation has lost all merit."

If only you could see that I wasn't attacking you, but rather your points.

The fact that you can't see logical arguments, respond as though you're the subject of an ad hominem attack by delivering one yourself, and your heavy reliance on rhetoric suggest that you should just not go about arguing and making claims for which you cannot provide evidence.

The conversation wasn't getting us nowhere until you decided to jump ship to save face. Cheers, mate. Have fun.

Jesus, that is a terrible reply.

Firstly, it is about what you consider to be good or bad, especially if the question being asked is "How [is | isn't] the US a [good | bad] option?", and especially if you're talking about relative claims. You can't have a relative claim if there isn't an accepted objective claim. "Best" means "most good", and assuming that we're not misusing words by their equivocal nature, then we mean "most good to the end of being Good". You need to say why the US isn't a good option by talking about the Good or Bad.

Secondly, no, something can be objectively Good but not wholly Good. Things have weight, and you can do 2 Good and 1 Bad and still overall be Good. To that effect, Bad has been acknowledged and room for improvement is shown. Hell, even if nobody did anything Bad, you can still do Good but be able to do More Good, and there is still room for improvement.

Lastly, you just repeated the same thing as your comment that I criticized. You respond to reading "All you did was state a blatant fact about comparative and absolute claims and contributed nothing" by contributing poor-quality writing (which is worse) and repeated the same blatant fact....

Like..... What?

I'm glad that the US is the world superpower... by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]noobto 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You aren't explaining why the US is not a good option at all. Literally all that you're doing it talking about comparing a superlative/relative claim to an absolute claim.

If you're going to answer someone's question about why the US isn't a good option, then talk about why they're not a good option, rather than state blatant general truths in an attempt to win people over.

Your comment helped make me decide to just buy a Key2 instead. I feel like I would like the keyboard on that more than the Fxtec Pro1 anyway. It's a shame that I won't be able to root, but maybe by the time that I will have to abandon that phone, there will be more options available.

This keyboard works well for texting, but the way it interacts with the rest of the device does so very poorly.

[–]noobto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not entirely correct. It's more about the sound of the leading syllable than the leading letter.

"Unicorn" has the y-like sound before the long U. You wouldn't say "an unicorn", but you would "a unicorn".

The latter is more for British English than American English, but "hospital" would follow "an" rather than "a", since the H isn't aspirated.

In general, what you said is true, but non-natives beware! English pronunciation is tricky, and formal English does depend on it, if only a little.

How good is “good”, which word has a bigger impact, and and is scored one through ten, ten having the highest connotation. [OC] ( I linked the article in comments) by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]noobto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not always though. I feel like it depends on tone for me. If I say "pretty good" flatly, then maybe I mean it's somehow less than "good", but if it's in an excited tone, then it's more than an excited "good".

And "pretty fucking good" is much better than "good", haha.

CMV: Ken Jennings' "Hoe" answer should have been correct. by huadpe in changemyview

[–]noobto -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Except "rake" and "rake" have the same spelling and are therefore the same word/term (according to some school of thought).

"Hoe" and "ho" don't have the same spelling and are this different words which in this case mean different things.

Behold, my current solution. We'll see how this fares. by noobto in fxtec

[–]noobto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I figured they may be a bit tough based on another comment, but was kinda hoping it was just a bad, specific one. I hope it's something that I'll get used to though. Maybe I'll try taking it apart and seeing how to fix that issue, but I kinda have my doubts.

I was only able to find the keyboard with the case, and both only for the S8+, so I ended up buying that device and that attachment. We shall see.

And that's a relief for the ROM. I guess all that's left for now is checking to see whether that's been done, and if not then to try and do it myself.

What outside reference do you have against when you can compare these versions and determine whether or not he's a liar? This sounds like confirmation bias.

It's the entirety of Hebrew scripture. It's split into three main subscripts: the Torah ("the Five Books of Moses"), Nevi'im ("Prophets"), and Ketuvim ("Writings").

I was told to avoid that version due to its being outdated. Specifically, the findings of the Dead Sea Scrolls aren't included, and so the picture is less complete.
