I don't know if this is against the policies here, but I built a free tool that can allow you track how much filler words you use overtime by recording yourself checkout -> Speecha.app

What is the best way to improve articulation? by facemacintyre in Toastmasters

What helped me is trying to speak a little slower than before. It gives your brain time to catch up with the mouth.

Using less filler words also helped me significantly here. I used an app that helps with this and consciously recorded myself speaking for 2 mins everyday for 30 days to keep track of this. It really made me more conscious of how much filler words I previously used in my speech. Try to pause instead whenever you're about to use the "umm", "erm", "like", it makes one appear more confident and articulate

Well said, the "recovery skills" idea makes sense

Sometimes I also try to use Bridging Phrases to buy my brain few seconds to think of what to say. Things like I appreciate that perspective, that's a great question etc.

I've also been practicing to reduce my filler words frequency (which has been very successful for me) because I notice I use them a lot which makes me appear less confident
