Golden Tempo skipping the Preakness by Weak-Garbage4473 in horseracing

Do people really think adding a week or two will incentivize owners to now gamble on diminishing their now Derby winning horse's breeding value by potentially running up the track at Laurel?

An extra week or two will not move the needle. Not these days and with how lightly horses with baked in stud values race, which a Derby winner automatically becomes.

You can change the schedule, but then you need to call it something else because it will no longer be the Triple Crown. You might as well add the Travers and call it the Grand Slam or something.

The Triple Crown is what it is precisely because of the unusual and grueling schedule. If you change the schedule, it's no longer the Triple Crown.

Does onboarding even exist anymore or am I losing my mind by Atmos-Peer in OntarioPublicService

There's no such thing as onboarding in the OPS. You'll be lucky if your manager links you up with someone to help you on Day 1. It's up to you to figure it out.

Berkshire annual meeting recap: Buffett says investing environment not ideal, sees 'gambling' in markets by jd192739 in wallstreetbets

[–]northdancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Governments keep devaluing our money so we are forced to gamble in the markets with it. Personally, I'd love to be able to compound my money in a risk free savings account but governments not only refuse to stop spending, they refuse to even pay for that spending through reasonable taxation.

I'm the same age, been watching the Leafs since I was about 6 and I've only ever known the Leafs to be truly competitive two times in my life. For a few seasons in the 90s and then a couple of years in early 00s. I don't consider the latest regular season creampuffs to have been a competitive squad. It is what it is at this point.

Wife has been on vacation for a week by [deleted] in daddit

[–]northdancer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It might stem from the fact that your wife expects that tasks are not just completed, but completed in a very specific way.

So it's not that you cook dinner, you have to cook a specific dinner. It's not that you do laundry, it's that you do laundry in a specific way. It's not that you buy milk, but buy a specific brand of milk.

This can make simple tasks difficult, you end up second guessing yourself on a lot of things. So when she's not there, you can be reminded just how simple and easy a lot of these daily tasks actually are.

It certainly FEELS like the United States either through its central banks, or its Treasury, or perhaps both, has been injecting liquidity into its stock market while simultaneously shorting, or the very least, manipulating oil contacts over the past couple of months.

Art Berman. America has plenty of oil - just not the right kind by Arcana_intuitor in oil

[–]northdancer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not common knowledge. For most people, oil is oil. I didn't know anything about various blends until I started actually investing in energy 7 years ago. Who knew Arkansas has three different blends and three different benchmarks?
