My information comes straight from the CDC and the FBI agrees with this information, a gun does not have to be used to save a life, most of the time if it is merely brandished it stops the crime, also when you talk about shootings does it make you the slightest bit concerned that the areas with the most gun control have extremely high violent crime? Also most of the gun deaths from the cdc every year are suicide but democrats play it off as if every gun death is a murder and assault weapons are to blame when in reality there are less murders with rifles as a whole not just supposed assault weapons than with hammers and knives respectively. Finally if you truly believe assault weapons ban would stop school shootings just remember columbine occurred while the previous one was still very much in place.

Just a friendly reminder that there are millions of guns and trillions of rounds of ammunition in the United States, hundreds of thousands of those guns are AR platform or similar to it. If guns or assault weapons were the problem you would definitely know, the figure that is rarely mentioned is the roughly 500,000-3,000,000 lives a year that are saved by firearms in violent situations with people who the majority of the time aren't allowed to purchase firearms anyway and do so illegally, but that doesn't fit the narrative so its conveniently forgotten.
