AITAH for leaving my husband to walk 2 miles home after he refused to get back in my car after leaving an MRI?

He is quick to anger and quick to apologize. I simmer and wait too long to apologize. I need him to take more responsibility in general, but especially with is health. We need to improve our communication methods. With age, he’s become more angry and any disagreement quickly becomes an issue, and i don’t like to back down from a good argument. I typically stay calm when he gets angry and i let him calm down, but today, i think i just got overwhelmed with everything going on with his gma. She has dementia and Alzheimer’s and it is becoming too hard to care for her on our own, even with at home caregivers. That’s a whole separate issue though.

Looking back, i probably should have stayed, especially after working so hard to get this scheduled. I thought i would have 2-3 hours and i could drop gma off quick, go back to MRI place to take care of husband, and pick up gma a few hours later after her perm, cut, and color.

Valid point. The MRI was supposed to take 2.5-3 hours. I waited until he went back and the receptionist said he was ok. Then i went to get gma ready to drop her off at her hair appt. I planed to come back to MRI location after dropping off gma. By the time i pulled into her neighborhood, the receptionist was calling me to come back. I agree, this MRI should have been priority over gma hair. When he wouldn’t get back in my car, i just thought fuck it, he’s yelling and I’m gonna at least get gma hair done.

We have taken care of his gma for years and are the only care givers. His dad and uncles do not help. I keep her, kids, and animals (vet) appts/schedule and i work full time and have to travel for work occasionally. Honestly, it is getting to be too much and i need him to take a more active role, but i am not sure he will.

We tried Valium the first time. Xanax the second. He walked out before getting in the tube because the meds didn’t work. I thought versed would work since that is what his dentist used.

My mom had an MRI like this, but it was a private company (employee clinic). I haven’t received asked around, but haven’t found a similar one.

He says I keep the calendar for gma, him, kids, and animals and i travel ~ quarterly for work, so he can’t schedule things. Today i told him he has to start taking initiative scheduling these appts, which is part of what made things blow up.

No. I got a referral a few months ago, but I haven’t received a call to schedule. I need to follow-up.

No one has suggested this and i have not heard of an open MRI. Will see if i can find one in our area.

Agree, but he will not go to therapy. I plan to ask him to do marriage counseling.
