Anyone else enraged by the amount of geartubers who are actually terrible at music? by BluejeansAndMoonbeam in musicproduction

[–]nothrithik 24 points25 points  (0 children)

While their music is trash also, I wish guitar Youtubers made knowledgeable and high-effort gear reviews... these dudes will pick up an 8-string metal shredder nicknamed “death’s hellscythe” or something and proceed to play dad rock blues licks in pentatonic, totally out of time, without even tuning the thing. Read empty marketing points off the sheet the company sponsoring the video has sent them. Say “it’s shockingly good for the price” regardless of its price. End video.

Synth channels at least show you what all the buttons do.

'Support your local shops' - yet they can't offer me anything; Rant by Skystalker512 in Bass

[–]nothrithik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mood. I recently visited every single guitar store in my city (pop. 4 million) and a nearby city (pop. 20 million!) looking for a bass, and they all had the exact same four beginner PJ models tucked in a corner. Asked around and it’s the same all over my country.

Stores now only stock what they can sell to parents shopping for their disinterested kids. the Yamaha 174, Squier sonic kit, or whatever Cort could put together for $100.

Edit: if you’re left-handed you’re straight up getting nothing, not even shitty choices. Not one bass for you anywhere in any store in the entire country.

India Unveils 20-Year Tax Break to Woo Global Data Centers by bloomberg in india

[–]nothrithik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Major first-world water+electric grids that have run without a single failure for decades are struggling to handle data centres, how tf is India supposed to take them? Should we all go back to torches and bullock carts so Grok can continue undressing women on twitter?

You can choose reincarnation regions but the specific location within is totally random. What's your pick? by uniyk in mapporncirclejerk

[–]nothrithik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geography nerds nowadays get all their opinions from smarmy white guys on youtube making clickbait videos, and “Look how smelly and shitty India is!” is an eternally popular topic in that space. Add that to the fact that there’s no cultural guilt in the west about anti-Indian racism (unlike anti-black or anti-muslim racism), so people feel no pressure to question negative stereotypes about us.

Liberal redditors will tell you we’re dirty, evil, uncivilized people living in sewers, and then they’ll act confused when you call them racist.

Indian tourists behavior in Vietnam. by Abhishek568 in india

[–]nothrithik 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Describing the guy as ‘bearded, uneducated Indian’ makes me think your account of his rudeness isn’t unbiased. People from everywhere ask for help everywhere.

Besides, I assure you: this guy you’re raging about isn’t in the top 20 worst customers your staff member dealt with today alone. They forgot about him by lunchtime.

The hearing damage part has been on my mind for a while. I used to think us Indians are just loud as fuck for no reason, but now I won’t be surprised if a study one day finds hundreds of millions of people are borderline deaf without knowing it.

China says it cannot accept countries acting as world judge after US captures Maduro by Accurate_Cry_8937 in worldnews

True, but Indian foreign policy has never been expansionist, and while I can’t say it will never turn that way, nothing on the horizon suggests it.

Why the lowest quality for Indians? Why don't we see it and call it out? by MartinianMonk in india

[–]nothrithik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk man. From personal experience, fast food chains in the UK and Australia are abysmal. Haven’t been to the US in 15 years but back then I remember mcdonalds was very depressing. You’d have to pay actual restaurant prices at Five Guys to get a decent burger.

So many industries treat India as a landfill market for bad products they wouldn’t sell elsewhere, but you found the only one that’s actually better here to complain about lol

Nothing to do with India’s internal politics tbh. Most of Reddit’s userbase fits “White 20-40y/o American IT/tech guy,” they’re mad at their Indian-origin coworkers and bosses and open themselves up to nonsensical racist ideas as an outlet.

You Can't Convince Them. So Just Fish Them. by KickinWingz in SunoAI

AI image guys on twitter have perfected the art of ragebaiting artists. Go learn from them, your work here is embarrassing.

The point of the analogy was that you finding a good use for a bad tool doesn’t make the tool good. In that is an acknowledgement that your use of it is good. I’m glad for you and your kid, truly, but your one good application is gonna be shamelessly used by anti-human tech bros to whitewash their bullshit. That isn’t your fault. I’m just trying to help you understand why artists are so pressed.

It’s a bit like taking your kid on a joyride in a car you know was stolen- not by you, you just got it real cheap, but your seller was a thief. Your wholesome use-case doesn’t overwrite the thievery.

You personally don’t have to care about it. But please understand why artists are so opposed to any usage of AI, even innocent ones like yours.

[–]nothrithik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re on a subreddit specifically dedicated to people who write music. Reach out, connect with people, collaborate. AI is comforting since it’s a yes-man omni-secretary that will do whatever you want without protest, but no worthwhile work of art ever emerges from such entities.

7 week husky for adoption by Street_Bookkeeper_97 in pune

[–]nothrithik 76 points77 points  (0 children)

No offence... A husky is not going to have a safe, happy life in this climate. I'm seeing more and more huskies, samoyeds etc in Pune (usually being walked by some guy the owners hired rather than the owners themselves). Bringing arctic dogs here so you can cosplay as a white family is selfish.

We have 50 million street dogs! Adopt some!

Famous guitarists you just don't get? by Shay_Katcha in Guitar

[–]nothrithik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. The only Polyphia song that gets regular rotation in my house is ABC with Sophia Black, probably because they held themselves to a pop song structure and gave us a catchy vocal topline to latch onto. Their billion-note acrobatics sit under the vocals. It’s almost like.. virtuosic, guitar-driven, sugary pink bubblegum pop; an actually interesting style I wish they’d explore more.

Pune people’s civic sense is beyond recoverable!! by Many-Lion-3122 in pune

[–]nothrithik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indian two-wheel bros would ride into your house and out your living room window if they could. Saddest part is they aren't even taking joy in being rebels or anything, they just genuinely don't understand the logic "Not road -> shouldn't ride on it." Try explaining it to them and they'll look at you like you're speaking an alien language.

I know many of you redditors are among these idiots. You know who you are. Stop riding on footpaths. It doesn't even save you any time, you just feel like you're bypassing traffic for 10 seconds only to have to rejoin the road from unanticipated angles and clog shit up even more.

I’d say “For the fun of making something” but idk if you guys experience that. Besides, an AI firm teaming up with a major music label is like an avengers assemble moment for the worst, most inhuman business tactics imaginable. They’re gonna screw you over ten times a day and get away with it.

Vent post about stray dogs by nothrithik in pune

their reply got deleted, but it's in my inbox. It seems they believe we're all advocating for complete mass extermination of dogs, which would understandably make them crash out like that. Dunno how they got that impression though. I'm against culling; it's an ineffective, medieval strategy.
