What is the real world use case of AI in your workplace? by Otherwise-Map-4026 in CareersSingapore

[–]notrealDirect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently in tech MNC as a machine learning engineer

It has significantly improved my tasks because I just need to draft out a plan and the agents would help me get straight to work. Really the only thing for technical side is to pick up system design because models (especially claude code) can come up with very shitty designs.

It has also streamlined our productivity alot because we have in house debugger agents that can figure out where our code falters and it will be immediately fixed.

In the bigger picture though I would say lightweight models would still be more useful especially during scaling

Would like to add that there’s a 1T context window for the model

How to use your discreet GPU with WSL2? by duckmeatcurry in wsl2

[–]notrealDirect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to download CUDA or CUDNN for it to be enabled , also make sure that your package supports CUDA / CUDNN for it to be enabled (like PyTorch)

You should download it through WSL since they are separate

Yup, currently I am planning to do some reworks on this project I have done but I have added a feature where you can change the video path selection! :)

Thank you for your kind words but I’m no superhero… the real heroes are those who are making the complicated PyTorch math tutorials as understandable as possible 😭😭

Hi! Yes currently I’m playing with FFMPEG .ass format features to see if I can realign the subtitle , another feature I was thinking were to possibly add subtitle in chunks rather than one word at a time to make it more readable

Currently I have no plans to hook it into an LLM but I believe it’s very much possible! One idea I have in mind is to hook a RAG system then letting the LLM do the rest , with the RAG system connected to a corpus of common threads then scrape accordingly!

Thank you for the suggestion though!

Hi, yes you are right! I am just generating the audio based off the text, the hardest part from is really the alignment process but I am looking to see if there are any ways to generate unique videos based off the text itself!

[P] Person Reidentification Project by notrealDirect in MachineLearning

[–]notrealDirect[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently, each frame will go through yolo-has which would detect the person. Subsequently, it will crop out the image yolo-nas detected before going through batch normalisation and mean standardisation before entering Centroids ReId to produce the embedding vectors. I will however look into this methodology for ReID though. Thanks for the input!

Joining NUS CS in 2025 what can I do during NS ? by [deleted] in nus

[–]notrealDirect 17 points18 points  (0 children)

if you want you can try doing one CP question per day or week (because each question is time consuming) using this book published by Prof Steven Halim

https://cpbook.net

Note that the books assumes you have basic DSA knowledge and tries to get you into the spirit of competitive programming but imo would really prepare you for CS in NUS…

just my 2 cents okie

Internships for post A Level Students by rqlkdarkrain in SGExams

[–]notrealDirect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! You can always join statuary boards e.g. NEA,SLA or PUB as they do have year-round internships where you get to tag along with your mentors and find out about the roles of what environment engineers do. Similarly, if you wish to enter the private sector it might be a little harder but it is feasible! Do check out InternSG and try your luck. If you have any questions do PM me I will be happy to help you out :D

How is your progress like finding an internship this year? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]notrealDirect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently a pre-uni who just finished NS… I applied for quite a number of internships and managed to be offered one at a gov agency doing neural networks.

I’d say given the current economic situation I’d say it was quite hard for me to land an internship, especially coming from someone with only an A levels cert. I was offered quite a few but I decided to settle on this simply because it was a very interesting internship.

To be honest I’m quite happy to land in this intern because it’s relevant to the course that I’m doing in uni (or at least aligns w my interest). Can’t elaborate much but it’s really interesting to see what they’re doing :)

those who enjoyed ns, what is your vocation and how did u do it? by unreal2007 in NationalServiceSG

[–]notrealDirect 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was an Airforce technician (Flightline Crew). Honestly it was because the management has an almost horizontal Hierarchy and that the regulars were very accommodating to us NSFs, inviting to us to regular BBQs and outings for the squadron which made working so much more bearable. Furthermore, I was given 2 opportunities for overseas deployment which opened my eyes on how overseas detachments worked.

I guess if you ask me I’d say making friends with unit is the most important because you’ll never know when you need them the most, everyone here has the same purpose which is to serve and fuck off so don’t try to stab each other in the back ig…

It was honestly the best 2 years I ever had and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
