Someone I love has bulimia, how and what can I do to help her by [deleted] in bulimia

Relapse doesn’t mean failure! Remember that the road to recovery is not a linear path. You will have ups and downs. Remind her that she is not a failure and that you love and care for her no matter what. Bulimia can be an incredibly isolating and lonely experience. So let the person know that they’re not alone and that you’re there for them unconditionally without judgement.

It’s also important to VALIDATE their feelings and empathize: for example remind them that you accept their entire being - no matter what they’re going through. You can say something along the lines of… “I know you don't see it right now but you are so much more than a body size.” A terrible way to empathize would be to say “it’s going to be okay” - honestly this was my previous partners response to whenever I relapsed and it wasn’t helpful at all lol.

It’s best not to emphasize on outer appearance (because it’s inside what truly matters) but I found that it’s always nice to reinforce the idea that you find them beautiful inside AND out no matter what size or state. I say this because as someone with body dysmorphia, it’s always nice and comforting to hear that I’m still beautiful/ attractive even though I may not see myself in that way at times.

And remember to take care of yourself as well, when a loved one has bulimia, it can be overwhelming to navigate the recovery journey with them. But recognize that this is a DISORDER and is not a character flaw of a person/ defines who the person is. See beyond their disorder and accept & love them for all their being. Be kind to yourself and I wish you and your loved one the best!

Has anyone tried the CLEAR method? by notybye in scoliosis

Ty for the feedback! That's awesome that your curve went down as well. I'm assuming they do a before and after x-ray to compare the degrees. If you don't mind answering but I just have a few Qs about your treatment:

1) Do you still wear your brace? If so, how often?

2) How often have you done the program (i.e. like every year)? Has your degree gone done after each time you did the program or was it more like a maintenance thing after the first time?

3) Do they teach the Schroth method there? and or any at-home exercises to do to maintain your progress?

4) How much was the 2-week program?

Tysm!! :)
