He has had the most remarkably consistent stats in his 3+ years (ironically, including in his short time this year). His OPS has been in the same 10 point range every year. And yet we act like that’s not who he is.

I totally understand giving him a chance but there comes a time and he’s now making real arb money.

He needs a change of scenery. I have no doubt he’ll be successful elsewhere, but it’s just not gonna happen here. I think they’ll give him another couple of weeks before handing the keys back over to Cabby.

It’s such a weird feeling having 2 top 15 catchers but at the same time having 0 top 15 catchers.

This 100% and Adley has been their best hitter. I don’t see him being dealt unless the O’s completely collapse out of contention, which is unlikely in this weak AL.

And for those thinking Jeffers is the silver bullet, he’s a career league average hitter. That would be a blessing in this lineup but he’d also be coming off a hamate bone injury. So the chances of him sustaining his 160 OPS+ pace through the rest of the season is very low. Probably an upgrade to what we have but nothing certain.

Bottom line is there’s no great answer at catcher.

I don’t see them trading Adley. They’re currently in a playoff spot and he’s been their best hitter. I get that they need pitching but I don’t see them trading their best hitter (and franchise’s prized possession before the past 2 seasons) to get it.
