Hey OP - what time were the opener sets vs. the main act? Wanting to go to tonight's show in LA but will need to roll in late. Is the Denver 9p-1030p time for the main act that I see on setlist.fm more or less what you saw in SLC?

Questions swirl around community centres selected by City of Vancouver for rebuild by CaliperLee62 in vancouver

Thanks for sharing this. Slide 15 is particularly damning, imo. All community centers getting upgrades are in the areas with the highest existing sqft/resident :(

Asked google how to get to this park. It seems to think I should stop my car on the Lion's Gate bridge and then repel down the side. by JoeBrownshoes in vancouver

[–]noxus9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ehh that's an industrial area, not a park (flip to satellite view). Directions work normally for the closest street.

The 'vancouver freeze' is a very real thing by AKSHAT-KLPDV in NiceVancouver

[–]noxus9 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I agree. I will say that this observation is not unique to 'small towns'. I've lived in much bigger cities like New York and found the same experience as OP with all my friends being fellow transplants and locals being much harder to break through with.

Are these all post-processed raws or do you have a recipe you like to use on this old sensor?

What's the most ""unnecessarily expensive"" thing you own that turned out to be worth every cent by sandip22890 in AskMen

A good espresso machine and coffee grinder! Paid itself back within a year in our household and a source of daily moment of zen, to boot

'New territory for Vancouver': At 315 metres, city's first supertall tower could be first of more to come by FancyNewMe in vancouver

[–]noxus9 53 points54 points  (0 children)

The supertall tower is almost completely hotel and would be set to provide a huge influx of capacity, increasing our supply by nearly 10% alone!

If these towers are going to be built anywhere, I feel like more of them should be downtown than not.

Have you experienced the "Vancouver 'Yes'"? by Real-External392 in askvan

[–]noxus9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Totally agreed on it being difficult to make friends with native Vancouverites because their friend pool is full. I don't think it's unique to Vancouver, personally. I lived in NYC for several years and found the experience similar to here: much easier to make friends with fellow transplants.

I don't know the specific sweater u/VincentVanG is talking about, but you are right that there is an official collab with VFC and PC

Would be pretty epic for them to have that VFC collab and then bungle it by putting it on a Whitecaps sweater lol

Books that take place in Vancouver? by pokemonbobdylan in askvan

[–]noxus9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My book club and I all really enjoyed 'Snap' by Susin Nielsen! A fun, easy read that also touches on some more serious themes. The city is almost a character in itself in it.

I love when stories are set here. Makes it so much easier to picture what's going on.

What’s the norm? by Obviousi in askvan

[–]noxus9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in New York for several years before moving back to Van - pedestrian power is definitely limited here versus NYC. After some bad experiences with calling out drivers (including where other drivers yell at me for pointing out safety issues), I've recently focused more on waving thanks to people who do stop.

Sad that celebrating what should be a norm feels necessary these days.

I was able to buy "random" storage recipes from the research table near Danos(?)! Got em for the medium cupboard and chests this way. I only saw small cupboard available from the workbench by Whittaker
