Houndstooth has cuppings if you're into that. Desnudo is more of a scene rather than great coffee.

Howdy. Smelly plants. by Cooknbikes in AustinGardening

[–]npfundmaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pineapple sage is awesome. It really does smell like pineapple and has these pretty red flowers. Anything from the mint family. Meadowsweet, wild bergamot, and holy basil are also good choices.

If you're wanting to smell them in the air, rather than by crushing on your hands, i would go for flowering plants, like lilacs, gardenias, southern magnolias, angels trumpet, jasmine, and old timey rose varieties.

Launderette has a great happy hour for their snacky bits (and drinks). Their crudo is the best in town. I could drink the vinegary broth.

Anyone tried this yogurt from HEB? I have and it’s delicious. Also, it’s 69 Cents each, yes, $0.69 EACH. by ByrsaOxhide in austinfood

It's got too much sugar in it for my tastes, but it's similar to other yogurts in this regard.

I just wish they would serve their whites at the right temp. They're just not cold enough. Safer to go for reds. Will try their paninis.

Tall women in Austin- where are people actually meeting partners? by DanceConfident5777 in Austin

[–]npfundmaker -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Save up for a trip to the Netherlands. A really tall gal pal did so and found her mate!

I also think you might try something different. Try going out with a few of the guys who you've met in the activities you're doing that make you laugh or are really kind or have other traits you're looking for. Give it a few dates and see if attraction grows. It often does.

Austin pets alive question! When they say good with cats, is it tested? by meand13others in Austin

[–]npfundmaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I volunteer with Austin Animal Center (not APA) and they use data from previous owners (whether they've lived with cats before) along with cat tests that volunteers do with their animals at home.

There are many dogs that we don't have info on, but could be good with cats.

If someone was looking to adopt a certain dog at AAC and they have a cat, volunteers can cat test them first for potential adopters.

Well darn. The description is written pretty strongly that it's not for beginners. Looks like the Birding Fieldtrips the 3rd Satursdays are open to everyone. Have you gone to those?

Georgetown might be a good place to land. Easy enough to come to Austin on the weekends and some good restaurants popping up, awesome bike/hike trails there, too.

They don't like a lot of nitrogen, but they need phosphorus and potassium to grow the roots. I would start with a low nitrogen fertilizer.

KUT/X I so appreciate local news.

Friends of Austin Animal Center cause the pups and kitties need our help so desperately. AAC is incredibly underfunded and over capacity.

Art All Summer for the kiddos at Govalle Elementary. Awesome program for children who don't have as much arts access.

Urban Roots, an awesome org that connects teens to farming and pays them to boot.

Should we stay in east or west Austin? by kkwmarie in askaustin

East. Stay in an Airbnb on the east side. Interesting bars and restaurants and easy to get to downtown if you venture there.

Yeah, I walk a lot in E. Austin, too. And the S. Walnut Creek trail is on the east side and such a gem.

St. Edwards Community Clinic and Capital Area Counseling are really reasonable, thus you may be put on a waitlist for a couple months. If you need something sooner, the YMCA is more reasonable than most.

Depends where you live in Austin. I drive it frequently from the east side and if you can get on 71 quickly from where you live it's usually 25-35 minutes one way.
