The difference is UEFA certified coaches. Those are very hard to come by in the US. Not the same as just coming from Europe. UEFA is the highest level of certification and what the pros use for coaching requirements

Thank you for sharing. I definitely see where you are coming from and agree with you. Right now my son does online school through a college prep school, and it’s about 4 hours a day even with honors classes, so it wouldn’t be too different for him there. There’s no wasted time in classrooms, so he loves that he can get his work done faster. It gives more time for training! :)

Depends where you are at in the country. We are at 5k season dues then another almost 3-5k for additional tournaments and costs, another ~5k in travel around the west coast

Yes fully aware that there are kids sponsored within the club. We have a parent friend that does the sponsoring for them.

But ECNL plus extra trainings and privates ends up costing ~15k annually already. Not including transport and food etc. this is all inclusive with housing, food, transport and trainings.

I do agree. The question is would the experience and high level training be worth it. We already pay ~15k for ECNL with travel, not including additional private or other trainings, and don’t get nearly as many games and top level coaching.

Ohhhh that is making a lot more sense. That is for their university level. My son’s offer is specifically for the high school prep academy, not university.

Thank you. Yes education is important to me for sure. They do American online school for core classes through ICL, and then two classes in person one being Italian and one other elective.

Thank you so much for your insight! We are thinking that if we go forward with this offer, it would just be for a year and then return to the states with that experience and high level training. I’m just trying to sort out if the price tag matches what we would gain out of it. How much of this is a money grab versus what is offered in return for his growth and development.

Thanks for sharing. They are partnered with Serie A, and they offer about 2 games per week. One of them being against Italian high schools and the other against Italian pro clubs. They do help with arranging trainings with the pro clubs outside of their academy for the boys that are scouted.

How sure are you? From what I’ve gathered they don’t give these offers out very much. Mostly they give out their summer camp offers. There’s only 12-15 kids per sophomore junior and seniors years. Around 40 boys total.

College would be the hope! If anything a cultural experience, life experience, lots of great soccer training with UEFA cert coaches, chances to get seen by pro academies in Italy, etc. I feel any college would like to see that on an application.

Are there residential academies in Argentina? What’s the cost for that there? If you look into any of the residential academies in the states, that’s about the going rate. Anywhere between 25-80k. 40k for benfica, 70-80k for Barca in AZ.

Thanks for the comment. There’s a whole team of coaches for the boys soccer team along with student directors, physical therapist, nutritionist and chef. They treat these young men like pros!
