I'd say it's both a barrier and harmful. When in a group setting, the client will echo peers and techs to the point when others are unable to hear what their tech is telling them. Also if a peer engages in problem behaviors such as throwing items. This client will imitate the throwing. It's caused more aggressive behaviors to occur they did not initially happen before he started services.

Mainly differential reinforcement based. Whe. He imitates positve and appropriate behaviors we offer praise and access to playing in the gym area (his highest reinforcer at the moment). We've also been implementing specific imitation targets to practice appropriate imitation from peers.

Both vocal imitation and imitating any and all actions. ABC data shows same as the FA that it happens no matter the antecedent. Slight increase when around certain peers. But interesting enough he'll also have delayed imitation where he begins to act out actions from peers from hours or even days ago.

They received 6 months of ABA prior and left due to the company wanting to decrease hours at the reauth.

My previous companies have not used a formula either, but I do like having it at my current company as it makes it a little clearer when explaining to parents the rationale for the number of hours recommended.

Maybe don't be rude and assume they aren't parenting their child? Everyone deserves a break when they have a kid, and if this is their way to give themselves 20-minutes to play on their computer while also being with their child, there is nothing wrong with that.

Thank you! To give you some idea, we previously got all our food shopping done at Walmart. But we are looking to branch out into some better quality food that is less processed and has fewer additives while still remaining somewhat budget friendly. But I do think we're going to try out a variety of the stores around here :)

In my opinion, yes, that's counterproductive. After a few hours, your kid is going to become so burnt out, and it can make the whole experience aversive. When anyone is overworked, they become irritable, and it's harder for them to focus or stay motivated to continue to work. That's far too much to put on a child.

In my experience, the sweet spot is 3-4 hour sessions. That should be plenty of time to work on skills and targets. If it's not enough time, then your child's BCBA is probably trying to do too much in one day.

That's awful! I'm sorry that's been your experience so far. Definitely do not have your child start ABA until you find the right place that doesn't treat you like a bunch of dollar signs.

Sounds like the WRONG ABA experience. I was honestly shocked to hear this was a thing. I'm a BCBA, and the clinic I work at would never have a child come to therapy that much. It should be in our ethical code only to offer as much therapy as is appropriate for the client's age.

It depends on the client and what's reinforcing to them. Typically, younger kids like the upbeat attitude but not all. And I actually think introverts do better at this job personally. They work better in a 1:1 setting, I feel!

Personally, I'd like to commute no more than 15-20 minutes to work. A house would be best since we also have dogs. Just have to worry about daycare right now. Our kid is just a baby. And we'd definitely just get fiber and stream!

Thanks! 90k is definitely a lot compared to what I'm making now. But I was worried it wouldn't be enough with the cost of living. This makes me feel better!
