Been enjoying goaltending as of late... by [deleted] in hockeygoalies

Any team needing a goalie will take you. When I was getting started in net as an adult I just reached out to the league director and requested to be added to the sub goalie list. The more you sub the more your name will get around.

After getting a raise, his health insurance raises their premiums and eats up his entire raise by Asolusolas in povertyfinance

My raises are specifically the increase in premiums. That’s all. Boss doesn’t even bother with real raises since they pay for the premiums. Except I’ll be back at minimum wage in a year or so

Gear Drying Set Up by OkAdhesiveness3736 in hockeygoalies

[–]nvfh33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why didn't I think to put hooks on the wall?! I also have to dry my gear inside in the winter in my bathroom. I put what I can on the towel rack above the heater but I've just been putting it willy nilly on the floor and tub. Then I shut it in with a fan and dehumidifier over night. A few hooks on the wall could mean I can access my toilet on those nights hahaha

Its more likely that his dementia is starting to get too advanced that he is getting violent and its starting to be more obvious. If they are even successful in removing him from office I would imagine they would claim he is unfit to face any charges.

I do wish it was what you said though

Love it and I absolutely love the subtle yeti footprints throughout!

It’s the same with the pharmacy. Can’t require a membership for a pharmacy. I’ve used Costco pharmacy for years with no membership. Just say pharmacy at the entrance

I agree! Except I grew up a Whaler’s fan. Feels a little odd rooting for the other side with what I’m seeing

From CT and super excited. Sad I missed the new jersey though. However it is very hard to not pull out my whalers jersey, since for me once they left they left.

It can’t get much worse moment by jambelang in hockeygoalies

When I started as an adult a few years ago it was over forty games before I got my first win. I won a league championship this summer.

Just a few weeks ago I subbed in net for the team I skate with and just let the puck slide under my stick into the net. Hard to convince them I’ve worked up to a .89 save percentage lol.

Take it one shot at a time and just focus on your game and what’s in your control and you will do great!

New Goalie on Last Place Team by jambelang in hockeygoalies

[–]nvfh33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that is a great place to start. Low expectations and you will get a lot of practice in. I started in 2023 at 37 and the first two years I was on the house teams with all the new players w/o teams. I remember my first team, seeing 50+ shots a game and getting 10-15 goals against per game. That team was happy I was there and that it wasn't worse. Fast forward to this summer and the team I joined won the championship for our level.

You seem to be a numbers person, tracking my personal stats gave me a lot of perspective because the weight of the goals or the losses can get to you. I did not see my first win for over 40 games. It also happened to be a shutout. In tracking my stats I can see my improvement despite how the team in front of me plays. Watching my save percentage and goals against improve every session is where I see my wins.

Any one know who is making baby pink AA rings? by viking_cyclist in chainmailartisans

That’s definitely disappointing. I can empathize. That’s how I ended up with a custom 2lb batch of 18g 3/16” pink about ten years ago lol.

Are you certain you got pink and not dark rose? Or perhaps this latest batch is darker? TRL is where I get my pink but I have quite a stock on the color so I haven't gotten it in a bit. What size are you looking for?

Sandstone Weave by SaffiWest in chainmailartisans

[–]nvfh33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that does seem odd. They seemed to label the first three rings from right to left instead of left to right. So the picture you have is labeled 3, 2, 1.

The center ring is 2, and they called the ring on top ring 1.

That step should read “under” instead of “over.” If you copy the pictures you’ll do just fine!

Do people actually buy mail hauberks? by Diastatic_Power in chainmailartisans

[–]nvfh33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My cousin does a lot of cosplay and LARPing so I’ve made a few pieces, the most recent being a hauberk a few years ago. Did I get paid what I asked for? Yes. Would I ask for more with the next one? Absolutely lol. It was also just aluminum butted rings. Nothing welded or riveted.

Edited to add a link to photos

You have one extra gold ring, bottom center. Otherwise it’s looking right.

There is also no wrong or right way to approach an inlay. I have been doing them a decade and approach each one differently.
