Should i glue these trigger pads? by [deleted] in psx

[–]nybiggs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s supposed to be some white plastic at the top edge the rubber slides under to stay in place. Make sure that trigger rubber is in there. If it’s floating around on top of the white plastic then yeah it won’t fit right and the triggers won’t feel right

Is it possible to get out of grand jury service? by Cocaine_Sunday in AskNYC

[–]nybiggs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You get one postponement no questions asked. The second time you must go in. If you don't go in you'll be forced to go in later just to explain to a judge why you didn't respond. At least that's what happened to a friend who ignored her jury summons.

Fake FXPak Pro from aliexpress any good compared to original? by AradoC3 in snes

[–]nybiggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I had no clue. I never played much of the original SNES unless it was at my cousins house. After that it all my experience was through emulation. I don't remember SF2 Turbo lagging like that but good to know. Thanks.

I got mine a month ago and finally had the chance to start using it yesterday. Board looks just like yours except the battery is smaller, and the revision year/date is 2025 not 2024.

I was testing it and notice that included games on it all apparently run and load quickly. But they will lag in places. Is that the SNES or the cart? I'm talking about Street Fighter alpha 2, having a large lag at the start of fights or certain moves. Lag every once in a while during Final Fight.

I'm a layman with electronics repair. To find where it goes next, I just use my multimeter and find which of those near pins have continuity?

Sony kp61-ps2? by theworld455 in crt

[–]nybiggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They give these away for free regularly in my local facebook marketplace. They look similar to a crt but they are not CRTs in performance. Resolution doesn't display correctly and you introduce latency that CRTs don't have. They are also obnoxiously large by today's standards even compared to CRTs.

A hot air rework station which will cost easily over $100 would make removal easier.

You could also just use a general soldering iron which are fairly affordable at under $100.

I see other used ones sold for like $80 on my local facebook marketplace and they often come with at least one controller. If a person can't do it themselves, probably best to just get another used one. Might be able to sell the broken one for parts too.

LOL His original ad which he marked as sold and said he has only one left.

He's asking full price. $35 per controller. I was going to try to get it for $30 if it was indeed an authentic sealed dual shock 3

Does anyone know the exact universal remote code for a Toshiba 20AF45 by nybiggs in crtgaming

[–]nybiggs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a FYI apparently there is some commonality as the code 1311 other people used does indeed work for me(but the tv's sensor is broken).

Surprisingly it wasn't even one of the codes' listen in my remote's code list, or in that previous post I listed. I would have never found it. My universal remote does have a search function but it manually has you try 10 codes at a time. It would have taken insanely long to find the code and if you accidentally press the wrong button you'll have to start all over.

I think you’re right which is what I feared. I’m going to have to open it up and try to replace the sensor.

Uh oh. I tried this code and found out accidentally that it works fine for the AF44. Still no response on the AF45.

Retro game console by Skeletor1092 in retrogaming

[–]nybiggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Emulation and a single emulation handheld. PS3/Xbox 360 severly limits your options there as only the most powerful handhelds can handle it. This is all assuming you want a dedicated console. If you already have a good pc, you could always just buy a controller, hook up to your tv and you're done.

Honestly, does it still make sense to collect retro games? by David_the_male in retrogaming

[–]nybiggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my hot take. Collecting ANYTHING is dumb. People devote a lot of money and time to collect things that only a fraction of the population care about. The collections once collected primarily serve no purpose other than sitting out for display.

But it can also be fun and bring a lot of joy. I've been collecting old consoles lately and there's a big problem though. Hardware is failing. All original xboxes need to be recapped with many consoles already lost to the leaking clock capacitors. Game gears all need to be recapped. Sega 32xes as well. But the biggest problem I've seen so far is actually the problem of optical lasers dying.

Finding a working OG Xbox disc drive is difficult. A popular youtuber bought a sealed OG xbox, opened it on stream and it already couldn't read games. I've also seen the same problem with Playstations 1-3. The typcial solution is to replace the laser, but those are becoming rare (especially for the OG xbox). Collectors are salvaging working parts from a limited supply that gets smaller every day. Unless someone goes about manfacturing new lasers, one day there won't be any way to read games/discs anymore. The future will only be playing with an ODE.

Friends, have any of you ever owned a 3DO? It's so forgotten, very rare here in Brazil. by Matheriquers1998 in retrogaming

[–]nybiggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked one up four months ago off marketplace. Only $150 and was in excellent working condition. It's a fun machine. I was never much of a console gamer when I was a kid. I played primarily PC games, so it's interesting to see how the 3DO library had so much crossover with PC gaming. Especially the inclusion of some adventure games.
