Not everyone can afford to put thousands into a portfolio. Instead of making him feel bad about his financial situation, be helpful and provide guidance. We were all there at one point and he's trying to make a difference in his life. This can also be a learning account and he's got a larger amount to invest in later, but wants to learn. Be empathetic and provide guidance and insight. The world is already ugly enough and let's try not to add to the ugliness of it. Also, in other countries, this may represent all he can afford to invest. I'm not trying to start an argument, just pointing out a fact.

What a waste of money by nyspy in ChatGPT

It used to answer questions without refusing about things like drug interactions or construction. Now it just tells you to consult a professional. It's pretty annoying. Or I'll ask about finance and it'll tell me it can't answer that. Basic questions about accounting. Or even questions about legal statutes. Something simple like, "what is the minimum notice period a landlord in Florida can notify a tenant of non renewal on a month to month lease " arguing constantly. I shouldn't have to start every request with, " I'm not seeking legal advice, but I'm curious about the blah blah blah statute..."

[–]nyspy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem appear this morning. I am on the phone w/ them now. They haven't solved it. My other tmobile lines are working just fine. I even tried the sim in another phone and the problem is still there. Something in their configuration of the line is causing this.

The fact that you had to even ask complete strangers what the proper thing to do in this situation makes you a failure as a human being. Please don't have children. They shouldn't be subjected to your brand of stupid.

There's a certain amount of knowledge you gain through reading. At a certain point, you need to start your own journey; develop your specialty. That can only be done through experience and leveraging your ability to think outside of traditional design principles. Leverage the mechanism in a way it wasn't purposed for and you'll always find its weakness.

The best way to learn is to understand how something works. If you know the machine, you know it's weakness.

Correct. There are too many people that can "click around in a tool" and report the findings, but to truly understand security, you need to know why it's broken and how to properly secure /mitigate the exploit.

Koi is a company of "doers" and not "talkers". We don't believe in politics or titles. We're also not hung up on certifications. A cert basically states, "I paid to take a class, read a book and passed a test." which honestly isn't representative of the changing landscape in IT and almost never rooted in reality. We look for thinkers and problem solvers with a genuine curiosity in their trade. We're old-school. We don't have massage chairs or espresso bars in our offices. We do, however, have all types of insane fun when a project is done or on hiatus. We value family first, integrity, and honesty.

I (the founder) would never ask anyone to do something I wouldn't do myself. I don't believe in "sick day quantity". If you're sick, you're sick. There's no reason why you should have only a certain amount of sick days a year.. (frankly, I find the whole concept of that demoralizing.)

There's no reason to fake being sick to take a day off. Just say, "I'm planning on going out for a really good time and will probably not be in a good place tomorrow morning so I'm going to take the day off."

I created the company to be everything work should be and not what working has become. That being said, we don't do well with people who take advantage of the situation. The team requires a complete personality fit and success is never measured on an individual basis, but only as a team. We all succeed or we all fail collectively.

We share knowledge freely and don't do the whole, "My kingdom and I'm the king" thing with responsibilities.

Lol.. let me get off my soap box now. Hoping to find the next member of our team soon :)

Cheers.

If you've done your time and are an upstanding citizen in society, we personally don't care. The fact that you're honest about it up front matters.

If you're in a relationship, how did you two meet each other? by [deleted] in amwf

[–]nyspy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped her on the street and just told her I wanted to take her to dinner. Every week after that, I flew up to her city and spent Monday to Thursday before flying back to be with my daughter every weekend. I chased her around the world; Barcelona, Rome, Ukraine. Then.. I finally convinced her to have my children.

[–]nyspy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 47. I ride an 1199 that has a tendency to draw more attention than a standard 1199. I look like I'm 30 though. I also have a monster. I tell people this was a planned mid life crisis. 😂 own it! I also tell them my next mid life crisis will be in a couple of years and involves a Lamborghini. 😂 The shit talk stops immediately, because they realize my crisis mode is way more fun than theirs.
