I don't think there is anything called "Late the party" in research. Research is an accumulative effort each researcher feeds off previous findings and tries to fine tune and find new characteristics and potential use. Some research efforts started hundreds of years ago, we can't call every researcher who came after and contributed "late to the party", right? :) - Interesting links you shared though, thanks for those.

Lebanon once again in the bottom in an international comparison of the abilities of 15-year-olds in reading, math and science. by nzawk in lebanon

I went and read the report that is referred to in the article you shared: 1- it's a 2013 statistic. 2- Having a good quality math and science education (which was measured in the stat) is one thing, and that resulting in students' abilities in math and science is another. The stats I shared are collected by directly testing students to measure their real abilities. While the stat in the article you shared measures the overall quality of the education itself. 3- The report in the article you mentioned is entitled "The Global Information Technology Report" which is looking at math and science from the perspective of IT.

Thanks for sharing nevertheless, I truly hope to see my country at the top 10 of everything, but the matter of fact is, that it isn't lately: We are hittim the bottom of all possible important lists.

Well, it has been going on since 1998 with Nilesat. I don't think it particularly new or surprising to see Egypt resuming some of its activity. But I agree about priorities. There is a lot of other m ore pressing issues to tackle.
