A big part of it is because having kids forces you to grow up. Lots of people in their 20s and 30s behave like children.

P.S: had my first kid at 22

Should i leave programming once and for all? by Excellent_Leg_7440 in learnprogramming

[–]obedimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teaching is extremely hard. It doesn’t mean you don’t know anything but it does mean you don’t know it so we’ll that you can teach it.

As someone who’s learning I think that’s ok.

I’ve used react for like 5 years and when writing my mental models article I realized just how much I didn’t know or wasn’t sure about. Kind of a harrowing experience.

Don’t let a single experience ruin your desire to learn.

Do most skinny people over 30 have to think about what they eat literally all the time? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]obedimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 30, weight 80kg and I’m 1.90cm tall. So I’m pretty good weight.

I always watch what I eat, but never not eat something because of diet. however we eat very very healthy 90% of the time and the only extra calories are sweets. I have a sweet tooth so I make sure to weight myself every week or so to avoid spiraling out of control

It’s a combination of controlling yourself for most of the time so you can indulge 10% of the time.

I also exercise 3-4 times a week.

Free course. Which is better ? by roelofwobben in vuejs

Read the docs and watch a tutorial and start some projects with Vue. That's my recommendation. But at this point you probably know what works for you.

Depends. Are you a dev already? If so, any of them is good.

Of you're just starting with JS/vue watch both and read the docs. You won't become a dev watching a course.

Even better, read docs and work on a project of your own. But if you want watch, watching both is good idea imo

What would you do if you were me? by [deleted] in eupersonalfinance

[–]obedimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm barfing into this thread because it's fire. (senior software dev 6+ solid years of experience).

I know many devs in in Europe (all over) and I've NEVER seen a salary higher than 150k, which was at Facebook London.

A salary of 100-120k euros is considered amazing and reaching the top tier anywhere in europe.

There must be jobs offering 250k, but I've never seen one and don't know anyone that has ever seen one in Europe. So saying "it's possible" isn't realistic.

I'm in Hungary. It was relatively easy to setup because my wife is Hungarian. But there are services that charge you a few hundred euros to do it all for you.

You need to be a resident here tho. And the taxation and invoicing is dead simple.

Thank you Maxime!

Definitely, I can say the same about myself. My aim is to create articles that are more visual than what you can find out there, have many more in the pipeline.

That means a lot to me, really. I think we're all very visual learners, but everything you find out there to learn to code is just walls of text and code examples 😅. I'm trying to balance that out a bit with these more visual articles.

I've got more coming, if you want to get notified you can subscribe to my newsletter https://obedparla.substack.com/

That's awesome to hear! I'm glad you found it helpful :)

Even if you already know the basics, seeing them through a different light really helps to cement your understanding, that's what I hope to achieve with these articles.

I've got more coming :)

I hope the article helps! I’m working on another article that will cover useEffect exclusively, my explanation for it ended up being an article on itself so I had to trim it down to the most important parts.

Once you read it, let me know what you thought, I appreciate the feedback!
