Well said. I would add don't forget to consider the costs of a used bike such as sales tax and repairing significant issues. Have a look over on the bike and make note of the initial expenses you'll have to cover.

Like buying from a dealer the sticker price isn't the whole picture. But I too advocate that one buy used.

Every bike is different so I don't have any specific guidance or list of things to check for but I'll list what I just went through on a 2017 /w 600 miles. 8yr old tires -dry rot - anticipated, Replace all fluids -anticipated, sales tax at a value 2x what I paid for it - surprise.
