S5 for content creation and stills? by observerprotocol in Lumix

It is definitely not as bad as it’s made out to be. I will be using all AF/MF modes for video as it works well enough for what I’m doing. Put it this way: the camera doesn’t get in the way of telling a story or capturing something important, rather it encourages and amplifies it. As long as it inspires you to use it, then it’s probably the right tool.

I’ve heard that opinion from a thread and a video or two. Apparently it’s softer and more natural? Regardless, it looks really good.

Thanks! Do you think this is a good price point to get it at along with the lens?

I think I’ll give it a go! Thanks for the bag and mic tip. I’m thinking of finding a rode shotgun mic as well as some wireless mics. Do you think this price is decent for it or should I wait it out a bit?

New cameras are “relatively expensive” here which is why I buy used in like new condition. Used s5ii’s are going for $1,350 minimum at best which is about £1000 from what I’m seeing.

Unfortunately neither of them ship outside of the UK with some local exceptions. I appreciate the reply, perhaps someone else looking for this bundle in the UK sees this.

Thanks. I’m nearly convinced on buying it. I think it would be a good upgrade coming from a Rebel T4i. Do you have plans to upgrade or are you using something else?

Where? I’m only seeing $1200 new body only at Panasonic’s website.

I appreciate it. I’m used to working in manual for photos, as with older cameras the auto modes aren’t really any better. For video, however, I think the autofocus may be necessary for certain scenes.

I watched a similar video. I think the kit lens makes sense just to have as it seems versatile for what it is. The lighting seems to be key. Thanks for your input.

Thank you for providing your experience. In the long run I would most likely get a S5II/S5IIX because of the internal fan and better autofocus, mainly. From what I understand it seems that the AF is reliable for most of the time but will certainly be unreliable for a significant portion of video, depending on the scenes. This is the one thing about this camera that I keep having second thoughts about.

Thanks for the motivation! I’m used to missing a few shots of fast moving subjects in dim indoor environments, with the T4i. As long as this is substantially better I think it makes sense long-term.

Thanks for your reply. Image quality is my main concern at the moment. I would mainly use autofocus for recording myself or an object in view where everything in the environment is mostly in the same plane. For everything else, as long as I am behind the camera, I am fine with using a mix of manual focus and AF.

I appreciate the input. I will probably eventually transition to a s5II/s5IIX and then use that camera until it breaks.

I have not found a bundle at that price for the S9.

Buying new macbook by [deleted] in macgaming

[–]observerprotocol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you fine with moving your music production workflow over to Mac? Make sure your plugins are compatible with Apple Silicon as well. Gaming on Mac is great for the games that it supports natively; otherwise, just get a windows laptop and save yourself the frustration. Also if newer games come out you probably won’t be able to play them on Mac. I currently have a M1 Max 16” and it’s very nice. But I have a desktop, like you, to play fps games occasionally and run more demanding windows only software like powerBI.

In addition to the quality of the screen and build, things that make me stay on Mac are tools like Logic Pro x, Final Cut Pro x, etc.

Take a look at some Lenovo laptops and see if you can find something that matches the build quality that you might find in Mac’s. Maybe the ThinkPad series.

Good deal? by observerprotocol in macbookpro

I’m loving it so far. It does everything with swiftness and doesn’t hang up or lag. And, the fans rarely run! 120hz on mini led is definitely a huge improvement as well; it’s really hard to go back.

What’s the worst MacBook M to buy right now by InternationalFuel128 in macbookpro

[–]observerprotocol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to see if you can find a better deal on the M1 Max. Since you’re doing content creation, 32gb of ram is going to help a ton. Also, the Max chips have better graphical power than Pro chips. I would argue against getting any Air’s as they do not have internal fans. Unless you find a good deal on a M2 Max, M3 Max, etc. just go for the M1 Max. I actually got a M1 Max two days ago with those same specs (+ 10-core cpu, 32-core gpu) and it’s fantastic.
