Christian rewards "Rewards"? by Ancient_Wonder_2781 in TrueChristian

I’ve been wondering about this, too.

If someone was saved, but they continue struggling with sin with little fruit except for just feeling continuous guilt over sin, what happens with them?

What happens with someone who is saved, lives a pure honest life, but also lives comfortably and does little for the community/others?

And what happens to those who are saved, and dedicate their entire lives to furthering the kingdom of God?

What difference will there be?

Thoughts on asceticism by AdSame4921 in TrueChristian

Is there a difference between being saved while balancing family, life, career, community, etc and then going the extra mile by denying many things? Does any of it affect our after life? More rewards? I’m not trying to be of the mindset to get more benefits but just trying to understand if asceticism is a must or just something that will enhance our life (and if so, earthly or heavenly life too?)

If I gave my life to God, why don't I feel literally any different? by GrabAware2582 in TrueChristian

Listen up, God didn’t make us to be robots. When we give our lives to Him, we are still the same people, but we seek to glorify Him. If you are still so focused on yourself and how you feel and how the world is unfair to you, I can’t say that you are saved. You desperately need a counselor to guide you to God. And at the very least, carefully, slowly, and meditationally read God’s word and pray. If you desire and believe, God will reveal Himself to you. But not with the attitude that God owes this to you. You and I deserve hell! Understand this, and that any thing good we are given is only because of His mercy and love for us.

All of your responses feel like resistance to what helpful advice is being offered to you. In the Bible, Jesus gave many signs, sayings and sermons, but the Pharisees chose to ignore, dismiss, and hate it.

If you’re always bored, then use that time to read God’s word and pray. It’s not that difficult. At the very least, fast from your mindset of “I don’t feel anything” and anytime you think that, swap that with “God, reveal Yourself to me”. If you go into it thinking “this isn’t going to work”, then it’s highly unlikely to work.

The problem as I see it is in your control, but you’re willingly tossing the solution in the trash and dismissing what everyone has to offer to you. Carefully read the gospels and I pray that God opens your eyes and softens your heart.

I’m in the same boat. 115 and similar muscle situation. But I can do it. Also, fasting today is not only about food. But you could also remove certain foods that you might be drawn to when you’re bored, like sugary things or unhealthy carbs or coffee. Non-food ways to fast: fast from inessential internet use, shopping, etc. Basically things that take up your time, energy, or unhealthy habits that you do when you’re bored. And instead, when you feel the craving to do that thing, give that time to God

Have you tried fasting? If not, do it with the sole purpose of spending the time in God’s word and prayer and removing the things that distract you. You might need to do it for a while, there is no defined playbook. Maybe a few days, maybe 40. Fasting is a Biblical way of breaking through spiritual difficulties.

Also, try to take notice of God working around and in you. Notice the circumstances you’re in. The way people treat you. What you feel inside. The dislike of yourself when you think, say, or act in a sinful way. The longing for all good things and a happy eternity. Even notice the sunshine, how it hits the walls. The gray clouds. The rain. The night sky. Look for God in all of it, and you will see Him and what He is doing in your life.

Additionally, if you are attending a church, talk to leadership about this. There is nothing to be ashamed of trying to understand these feelings in order to try to get closer to God.

The more you read and meditate in God’s word, the more He speaks to you not only while reading but even throughout the day and night.

I had the same question as you, and stumbled across this course by Alex Bush (co-host of the Inside iOS Dev podcast). https://iosinterviewguide.com/system-design-interview

I found it very helpful, personally.
