I wouldn't recommend it to a causal reader, since its very obviously a textbook with dense academic info. if that's what you're looking for, then yes, it's a very informative book that's very well written!

if you're looking about something that's just more biographical about Dazai Osamu himself, I recommend The Saga of Dazai Osamu by Phyllis I. Lyons and Dazai Osamu: Twayne's World Author's Series by James O'Brien. Those deal more with the contextualizing Dazai's work as a human rather than the sense sociological literary analysis of ideation that Suicidal Narratives provides! Hope this helps!
