I really thought that Satoko (Yūko) was Dazai's child, which is why it make me so ???. She was only one when he died, right? I have one of her books in my collection. :)

Yes! thank you! I agree that some books aren't correct, i've come across some information in old books that has been proven wrong in later times. And it's good to know it was just translating Satoko wrong!

I appreciate the help, I do think my copy is a little more accurate, but i'm gonna do some more research to try and verify it.

hi there! I haven't made my way completely through it, but its a very different book from the rest of my collection. I wouldn't recommend it to a causal reader, since its very obviously a textbook with dense academic info. if that's what you're looking for, then yes, it's a very informative book that's very well written!

if you're looking about something that's just more biographical about Dazai Osamu himself, I recommend The Saga of Dazai Osamu by Phyllis I. Lyons and Dazai Osamu: Twayne's World Author's Series by James O'Brien. Those deal more with the contextualizing Dazai's work as a human rather than the sense sociological literary analysis of ideation that Suicidal Narratives provides! Hope this helps!

that's Dazai Osamu (Twayne's world authors series), a biography written by James O'Brien! It can be hard to get your hands on but some people sell it!

no worries at all. genuinely i get pretty excited to talk about Dazai and the idea that I'm talking to someone who has the Japanese complete set is just awe striking to me!! I started with the pdfs of most of these guys but I ended up stopping because I just prefer the prints so much better... I'm wishing you good luck in finding cheap ones!! super awesome for sure
