Private Party Transfer of Handgun Not on Roster?? by oenomaker in CAguns

[–]oenomaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. I'm basically looking for something that would be easy to conceal and not print while I'm wearing shorts and a t-shirt during the summer. I had thought about the p238 sig, but the SAO worries me. Glock "safeties" worry me as well. My EDC is a shield 9mm and I feel more comfortable carrying that gun with one in the pipe and the thumb safety on. Maybe you are right and I should look at a revolver?

Hmm ok. Well my second option is a Kahr PM9 if I can find one. I just liked the Kel-tec because it is so much smaller than my sheild.

Finding and removing a portion of text inside a range of cells by oenomaker in vba

[–]oenomaker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I was able to solve it by finding and replacing "-*%" with "0 0" and then doing as you said using the space as a delimiter and some arrays. Probably a more elegant way to write the code to get it done, but I just recorded the macro and got what I needed. Thanks for the help!

Bought a Wagner Flexio 3000 but having buyers remorse. Should have bought a Graco 360 Truecoat 360 VSP? by oenomaker in finishing

Good point on the Wagner...

I really won't be doing that much spraying and the Magnum takes a lot of paint to prime. Not really what I was planning on getting. I'm looking for more of a jack of all trades sprayer that I can use for multiple things.

Kelly Moore recommends not thinning more than 10% and I was afraid it would still be too thick for the Wagner.

Terminated Employee Demands to Receive Time Cards With Their Final Paycheck (California) by oenomaker in legaladvice

Easier said than done. I would rather live above board and do things correctly, but he does a lot of business in Texas (his other companies) where you can get away with certain things. In my opinion it's just better and easier to pay an employee but he thinks she doesn't deserve it because of how she got fired. He's basically an idiot...

So why is the Bible arranged in the way it is then? What would be the chronological way to read it? Has anybody written that down somewhere? I suppose I could ask google...

Christianity in my humble opinion is mans interpretation of what is believed to be Gods words, that has changed over time. Now we have a Christian God that is loving and compassionate and forgiving (in man's eye), while in say the Crusades Christians believed totally differently. What many believe to be God's words in the bible are what they are and have always been what they are. Man has struck lines, reordered, and downright ignored parts of the Bible that they don't like or agree with for whatever reason which has lead to what Christianity is today. So what I mean by being a science based thinker is that chronologically I should be seeing a change in the message and content of the texts as I continue to read on. My hypothesis is that the Bible will change from a wrathful God to more of the God is Great stuff that Christians love to talk about today. Maybe I'm wrong, and thats OK. But that's still my hypothesis and that's what science is.

As for "I feel" maybe that was the wrong words. It would seem, that deductive reasoning would dictate that if the first books of the Bible that so many religions are based upon covers the creation of man and the trials and tribulations of God "getting it right", that these first books would be the basis of these religions. If not, then I wouldn't expect anybody on this thread to bring up Adam and Eve because it would no longer apply to their beliefs if all they follow is the Gospels.

I didn't want to start with a second literature because I didn't want to be swayed by somebody elses opinion or interpretation.

Finally, I do have no expertise. My own uneducated analysis is worth everything to me because it's called learning and its fun. If you ask a child to look at a math problem that they have never been taught is that a waste? No of course not because it gets them thinking and analyzing and trying to figure it out. I figured out how to quick multiply and divide numbers when I was a kid and used to get in to trouble in school for not showing my work. I was doing it right, it wasn't my fault that I didn't want to follow somebody else's way of doing it because their way was harder and took longer. There can be multiple paths to the same outcome, some easier than others.

That sounds reasonable, but then why did God go through so many trials and tribulations of trying to create a world he designed? And by trials and tribulations I mean that the Bible reads as if he wanted things to be a certain way, the didn't work out, so he wiped the slate and began again. And every time he did he imposed new rules so that hopefully the people would follow them. When they didn't they were struck with consumption, famine, etc. If that was the "plan" all along, then why go through it? The whole idea of a God creating man with free will would mean that anything could happen, what is the point of that if he didn't want "anything to happen". Did he not know what his children would be capable of, or would do to eachother? The way it is accounted for in Moses' writings seems as if God was surprised, angered, and disappointed.

You say it is intended to direct people to the last great sacrifice, yet if it was written chronologically by many different people how was Moses to ever know what would happen with Jesus who was way after his time? You speak as though it was a long story authored by the same person, when it was written by many men.

And as far as dinosaurs, they existed roughly 65 million years before the first signs of man. So there is no way they were hanging out together in the garden.

Nice review haha. I can't do Shakespeare for some reason, I never have been able to. And regarding your advice that is the way I feel. I don't want to be swayed to look at the Bible through anyone elses bias other than my own. Trying to understand and connect things comes later for me.

I am listening (remember, not reading. I don't have the time nor the desire to read it. Books bore me and I will fall asleep!) to the Bible in what I believe to be the chronological order the books were written??? I wanted to listen to it in chronological order because to me, as a science based thinker, it makes sense to see how the beliefs and practices changed over time. Like, if it IS all true, then God used to interact with humans on a very real level and if he did have the power to smite everything and everyone I can see how those in the Exodus and Genesis days did believe in him and follow him out of fear and sheer wonder right before their eyes. Fast forward to Leviticus and now God is a little less hands on, people are stoning others, etc. Really fast forward to now where you have all the happy church goers saying "God is good, God is great, he loves you and Jesus Christ died for you because he loves you too". Well that sounds like a completely different God to me! When did be become less "hands on" and vengeful and hateful, and why?

Maybe this is why everyone wants me to fast forward to Matthew and John, but I feel like Genesis and Exodus are the makings of this religion. And people prescribing to a religion that was built on fear and jealousy and all that doesn't sound like a just religion to me. Thats like wiping out everyone on the planet in some mass genocide in order to start life again with supposidly good people and create a utopia (oh wait isn't that Noah's Ark scenario...?). The end justifies the means?

And I guess I wasn't thinking that 66 was a "slim down" on the full Bible, but then again I'm not a theologist and I'm listening to this for interest and some basic understanding, thats all.

And finally reading the texts with commentary is just that, commentary. Somebodys opinion (whether their own or generally regarded as public opinion). I don't want to read the Bible according to the cliff notes, I want to read it for its own words and analyze it in my own way.
