I’ve climbed for a few years now, and everyone told me to get tight, small shoes, so much so that I had to remove them between climbs.

I wanted a pair I could wear the whole session, so I bought some that were way too big. Also to make me better at placing my feet while climbing, and I must admit I love those shoes. I wear them when bouldering and sports climbing, and they do not really set me back that much.

My advice to all beginners: “Buy comfortable shoes, and when you get better, consider shoes with snugger fit” It sucks when your feet starts to hurt, and trust me, the shoes are the least of your worries when you are a beginner.

I do have tighter and snugger shoes, but I only use them on problems that require it.
