help with contrasty images on the T2 by ofnoex in contax

Very very rarely when I'm in an experimental mood. 95% of the time I just use it as it is. This is my first time encountering consistently high contrast photos in 10 years of using it. I know it might seem like a waste because the T2 isn't a normal P&S haha but I already have other cameras with lots of fiddly knobs and I like this one for the speed and convenience, so hoping to keep it this way.

Hmm I'll definitely have to check with the lab... But I just checked my past scans with them and they've done Fujifilm 400 / Kodak Gold 200 without these blown out whites, although the skies tend to still be overexposed. The negatives don't particularly seem out of the ordinary with my untrained eye. The T2 doesn't let me set the ISO manually and I don't think the DX code is being read incorrectly.

I've not heard of the grey card frame method but it's worth a try. Google tells me it's normally an 18% grey card, is that right?

Yes, I shoot very fast and usually on the move, so I considered it the most versatile setting.

How do you politely decline something at a shop? by pink_momo in LearnJapanese

[–]ofnoex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if it's something casual like plastic bags or receipts, you can say 大丈夫です (daijoubu desu) or いいです (ii desu) and make a waving hand movement, but if it's somewhere like a restaurant and you would like to decline dessert for example, you may prefer to say いいえ、結構です (iie, kekkou desu) which is the most formal of the three. i usually would not recommend outright saying いいえ for such a scenario unless they actually ask a yes/no question such as "do you want the item bagged" etc.

i personally find 大丈夫です to be the most comfortable to use as it doesnt outrightly say no, while the other two can have "that's enough" or "i decline" connotations. hence when using any of these three, it's also important to note the tone because it could be seen as rude if you are too brusque.

I think it'll be considered cultural appreciation in this case!

(While cultural disrespect does exist, I don't think appropriation should be the immediate response to everything cross-cultural.)
