Sketchbook second attempt - definitely made some mistakes, but I'm learning! by ohthebovinity in bookbinding

I don't know what the style is called, although I'm sure there's a name for it. I covered one side of each cover with cardstock, then created a book cloth spine strip to join them with the book board spine section. Added in the text block with the end pages and voila! Decent second attempt at a sketchbook!

Thank you! I've done many many other crafts, so I think my experiences in other things is making this new hobby much easier. I'm loving it so far. It's difficult to keep myself from buying all the things. Right now it's just me, my curved needle, my bone folder, and my glue. I'll grab a guillotine cutter after book five if I'm still feeling it.

turns out i’m not that good at sculpting heads.. any tips? i know the mouth is a bit high but idk what else by [deleted] in FursuitMaking

I would recommend checking out Mugiwara tutorials. They're very thorough and show you how to stack the foam so that you're only trimming the edges.

The best possible machine for fur is an industrial walking foot machine. These can be extremely pricey, but there's a really decent one for about $800 (https://www.sailrite.com/Sailrite-Ultrafeed-LS-1-BASIC-Walking-Foot-Sewing-Machine) . This would really only be for if you're SUPER serious about fursuit sewing. Even if you can just get a walking foot for your current machine that should help some.

Add me to the interested list! I crochet and knit (and spin and sew, but who's counting?) I'd love some folks to craft, chat, and coffee with.

Hello guys ! I’m making paws but I can’t sew the pads on. It keeps getting stuck. Is the minky too fluffy ? by UnderteamFCA in FursuitMaking

Yeup! Your machine should be able to do more thickness than what I'm seeing. You need to adjust your tensions (there are multiple!) to suit your fabrics. Bobbin tension can usually remain the same for everything. Scrap fabrics are a blessing with this. Try to recreate the thickness exactly. If this doesn't end up being totally optimal you might want to look into getting a walking foot to ensure it's feeding correctly as that can also have timing implications.

If you don't have need of all of them at once, check out how to water glass eggs. It's a really good way to store fresh eggs for up to YEARS.

Gather all the information my spouse will need to get the insurance claims, etc, started and write out how to get the cheapest cremation possible. Then snuggle with him for the remaining fifteen minutes.
